This one happened at Lincoln venue, the Mezz bar around 11:15 when the Dazed Dakota's of Grimsby erupted onto the stage with possibly the best fitting song Iv heard to introduce any set at a gig. 20-20 says to any audience, 'right here we are, so stand the f**k up and have a good time'. The sudden transfer of energy to the onlooking audience is unbelievable, its as though someone pulled out a yo-yo and said 'don’t worry, its cool again, just let yourself go' and how they did at this performance. Stamping their authority doesn’t even come close to how these chaps let their presence be felt. Its impossible to raise an eyebrow at anything this band does either, no one would question a morris dancer joining them, it would just seem to go despite the diversity. With such a great set of songs all of a consistent high standard and rock'n'roll touch, no one in the venue gets a rest and a trip to the toilet would almost be criminal while they still grace us with their presence. The guitar riffs sweep around you forcing you to move limbs, the guys either have magic instruments or this band simply have remarkable talent and I’m not one for wizardry so I’m going with the latter. Perhaps the most influential factor of this band in pleasing an audience is their clear enthusiasm and enjoyment they display when playing. Some have mistaken this for arrogance which may be the case when you are this good, but in truth its the level of passion they have to perform well for one another and indeed a crowd that raises the bar for their rivals. I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw a textbook on how to be a frontman in W.H Smith, the author being vocalist Rosie who has every tool in the box to switch on an audience. Certainly one of a kind and transforms most casual observers at a gig into a Dakota!!! There are few bands who have managed to write a song that possesses an actual story into an awesome song, but the Dazed Dakota's make this look easy with 'Modern', a sublime song that sees every member of the band at their best, everything fits so well, whilst the lyrics send us on a trip to a drive-thru bookshop in a VW camper then back round to experience a festival all in the space of four minutes. Everyone who witnessed this incredible performance will have been swaggering through town the next day, still armed with a memorable performance from the Dazed Dakota's."Martin Steeper [RaW] live music
