I've loved movies since I was a small girl, and some of my fondest childhood memories include my dad taking my mom and me to see the latest releases.Even as a child I was in awe of the stars on the big screen, and I wanted to be like them. I was impressed by how elegent and sofisticated they seemed. As I grew older my love for the theater and movies not only continued but grew. Before Turner Classic Movies, I had to stay up late to see a classic film, but now TCM shows them 24 hours a day. And Robert Osborne always has some fact about the movie or the stars to share. These little tidbits enhance my enjoyment of the old movies. I especially enjoy The Essentials with Mr.Osborne and Rose McGowan.I sincerely believe that I could live the rest of my life with classic movies as my only entertainment. There are good movies being produced today, but they don't measure up to those old black and whites, watched in a dark theater while eating popcorn or from a good warm bed on a winter's night. And,even though there are some "stars" whose work I enjoy, there are no Audrey Hepburns,Greta Garbos,Cary Grants,Claudette Colberts or Jimmy Stewarts. No Charlie Chaplins,Rita Hayworths,Katherine Hepburns or William Holdens. But thanks to the preservation of films and the many channels that now show them, classic movies and classy actors will always be around. A fact for which I am profoundly grateful.
