Hail all you Metal Bats with Heavy Metal Ears!!Welcome to the world of the Dutch 80s Heavy Metal!
This space is loaded with lots of rare pics, vids, interviews and will be often updated. The mediaplayer contains (often rare) tracks from Dutch 80s bands which will be refreshed every 2 weeks. So keep coming back!HOLLAND HEAVY METAL was the name of 2 compilation LP's (part 1 and 2) from '82 and '83 and defines the style which can be described as typical Dutch 80s Heavy Metal. Bands like Picture and Vortex started in '79 and that year can be seen as the birth year of the Holland Heavy Metal.
Before that, bands like Golden Earring and Focus already made heavy music.
The style is very much related to the NWOBHM, maybe because Holland is not that far from the UK :-)
Anyway, this year, 2010, it is 30 years ago that Picture released their 1st album which is one of the very first pure Holland Heavy Metal albums. Some of the great 80s bands still exist to this day.
I hope you like this myspace which honours all these great 80s bands and give 'em their rightfull place on myspace!

In the 70s the band had quite some success in Holland. Besides being vocalist for White Honey Hanneke became very famous as radio DJ with her hard rock/heavy metal shows in the late 70s, early 80s. She introduced a lot of NWOBHM bands on Dutch radio. NWOBHM band Bitches Sin even wrote a song about her simply called 'Hanneke'! This White Honey song 'Nothing Going on in the City' was their most famous song and was in the 80s covered by American band The Rods.
