About Me

Randolph (Randy) Frederick Pausch was born on October 23, 1960.
Randy was a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and best selling author of “The Last Lecture”. Randy’s “Last Lecture” speech at CMU was taped, put on youtube, and seen by millions. He was featured on Oprah, interviewed by TIME, was featured on a Diane Sawyer ABC special and was a spokesperson for The Lustgarten Foundation and PanCAN, also known as the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Randy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August in 2006. Pancreatic cancer is one of the biggest killers in cancer and the least funded. Only 5% survive it. He had aggressive treatment and spent the last two years spending quality time with his wife Jai, and his children Dylan, 6, Logan, 4, and Cloe, 2.
Randy’s “Last Lecture” is inspiration that will last a lifetime. His book, lectures, interviews and public service announcements during the last two years of his life show the amazing strength of a man who decided to live until the choice was no longer his. He gave his time to his family and to millions of strangers making a difference with every day he had left.
Randy’s journey here on Earth ended on July 25, 2008 and he has begun a new one.
He will be missed but not forgotten.
We ask that you keep his family in your prayers and his message alive through your life, your influence, and your example. Share this page and these videos with the world. Keep his dreams alive and keep fighting pancreatic cancer for him through the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and the Lustgarten Foundation.
