Lewis’s career started at the tender age of 8 with a series of illustrations that appeared in the Hartbeat gallery and were described by none other than Tony Hart as ‘quite marvellous’. Lewis started creating animations on his Commodore Amiga at 11 and never looked back. A graduate of Duncan Jordanstone College of Art, where he gravitated towards the use of video in fine art practice, Lewis is committed to making video art relevant and accessible to as many people as possible and coordinated an artistic collective that placed exhibitions in unexpected places like supermarkets, libraries, clubs and bus stations. After finishing university he learnt his trade as an editor at Digital Facilities Ltd in Edinburgh. After a stint as a freelance editor he met Abby at his studio at Avatar Post Production, started Cagoule and moved into motion graphics work. They chose the name Cagoule as a way of embracing their inner anorak - strictly in terms of their devotion to filmmaking you understand, in all other areas they are the epitome of cool. Cagoules bring to mind versatility, an ability to work in all weathers (an essential quality for anyone based in Scotland) and something that’s very handy and fits in your pocket and can be taken anywhere – just like they are. (Well apart from the bit about fitting in your pocket, but they are very nice and you can take them most places…). Still winning awards nearly twenty years after the start of his career, Lewis now lives in Toronto and describes himself as a motion graphic artist and creative editor (see also http://www.cagoule.tv )
