Bliss started as: Berdt - Guitar/ Voice, Arik - Drums, and Kevin - Guitar.
It all started when we got guitars and a drum set. We would play everyday nonstop. Eventually we got a show at a cafe Berdt worked at called Cafe Limbo, where we played covers of loud rock bands. It didn't go over well. So we just kept playing in my basement. Kevin and Berdt got little 4 track recorders and we started recording. We started recording our first demo, only one still works (the others were destroyed by Berdt). We broke up, but still played together on occasion. Then there was me- Berdt. I just started writing songs- for about the past three years, ya know just writing songs because it was such a good way to let off steam or let out all the pent up excitement.
How the new Bliss came to be:
Jump to summer of '07 ... Berdt meets Mella at the B-side open mic. Mella wants to learn how to play guitar. She conveniently happens upon a lonely, un-played bass guitar so I (Berdt) tell her I'll teach her how to play it if she agrees to have sex with me- I mean, join my band. While she's learning the basics, we keep going to the open mic every week. I often jammed with Jacob, who I'd worked with previously at Cafe Limbo. As Jacob finds other things to occupy his time, I start jamming with another drummer. This guy's name is Eli. He's in another band called All Power but somehow finds the energy to jam with me too. And then, right as Mella starts gettin the hang of things and gives the open mic a shot, it gets shut down. (A sad, sad time for all of us). We take it as a sign though- this must mean that it's time to start practicing on our time and playing shows.
Time goes on and we decide being a three-o isn't necessarily "our thing" so we invite Chris Griffin in as a 2nd guitarist. A little more time goes by and one balmy, drug-induced summer evening in '08 I'm chatting it up with my former band mate, Kevin and we decide to re-kindle the magical musical mayhem of the former years. So he joined and has so far played 4 shows with us. Things are going well and we're working on the album. Hopefully it'll be ready in January of '09.
Sometime at the start of '09 we became a four piece when Kevin left the band.
We played our first show sans Kevin at Bella Dubby on March 7th. This was also our first show using the new band name: BAFFLEGAB.
