"Jack Pudding: a buffoon who performs pudding tricks, such as swallowing a certain number of yards of black-pudding." What might a culinary jester-like character have in common with the newest band-project grown on Freakquenzy Records' ground? Nothing in the first view, since the members of Jack Pudding are neither trained in buffoonery nor in eating even an inch of some bloody sausage stuff.
Evolved in 2006 from the hibernation of Lifthrasireon, Jack Pudding was given form by initiator and guitarist Hendrik, who gathered an exquisite circle of good friends and long-serving comrades. This circle is given the status of some sort of elite, avantgarde allstar-band through the fact that they all are or were part of several namable bands and in parts made far more extreme music in their lifes before: David is torturing amps and guitars with the ambient-drone-experiment "Das Bluul" and the monks of doom "The Multiple Dawn Trio". Eugen was part of the legendary East Frisian hardcore-punk bands "Verbal Kint" and "Supervisor", while Hendrik was conjuring up darkness with German Black-Metal-litterateurs "Geist" and still does with "Helrunar". Kai accompanied the sludge-doomsters "Crawl" for a while and Casi is litteraly breaking the sound barrier with the symphonic extreme metal-classicists of "Aeonyzhar" and earth..s finest LOLcore-act "Knorke Südfrucht".
The completely diverse musical background of its members is not an obstacle for the creative work of the band, but is rather solely used to realise the vision of the most extensive musical autonomy and uniqueness. Way beyond any limitations of genre, anankasms of self-localisation and self-imposed restrictions, Jack Pudding are striving for the prior goal of being an independent artistic identity.
Besides of almost everything, what the history of rock-music has to offer, from Arcturus to ZZ Top, they primarily get their inspiration from moments of being almost meditatively lost in thought, forgetting about the self and the world. Without sounding self-pitying and sniveling thereby, Jack Pudding on the contrary combine a melancholic and pensive atmosphere and a violent psychedelic heavyness.
