About Me
Musings of a Bipedal Vertebrate
I guess you want to get to know me, why else would you be here. The easiest way to do that is to talk to me, so hit me up on a messenger or catch me at a diner having coffee. I guess I'll put a few things here though.
I can count my real friends on one hand (as the saying goes) but id like to have fewer fingers left over, thus I am here, maybe I'll meet someone deserving of a finger (A finger, not The finger, ive met alot of the second in my life and would gladly go without meeting anymore). Once you've earned my friendship, whether as a real friend or one of the many acquantance/friends, you've got a friend thatll bend over backwards to help you if its in his power to do so. If you're one of the real friends, ill find a way make it within my power to do so or die trying.
I'm a strong supporter of the Constitution and all its amendments, especially the second as without that there would be no others. Don't believe me? If George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and the rest of the founding fathers hadn't kept and bared arms there wouldn't have been much of an American Revolution, now would there? Contrary to popular belief, the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting. When the Constitution was was written, hunting rifles were considered tools, not arms. In 1787, arms referred to the rifles and pistols used by the common soldier in a governmentally established army, which means the right to keep and bare arms is about military rifles and pistols, not hunting rifles and target pistols.
Now you might be asking why the founding fathers would want us to have the right to own and become proficient in the use of the same guns used by members of the armed forces. Keep in mind that many of the men who fought in the revolutionary war were still alive when the Constitution and Bill of Rights were written, that those men had lived under a tyrannical government that used military force of arms to oppress the people, and that that tyrannical rule and oppression was ended only because the people had the same weapons as the soldiers who served that government. The Second Amendment is entirely about defense, and not against criminals. It is primarily an insurance policy guaranteeing that should our government become corrupt and begin oppressing the people, and all other avenues have failed to correct the problem, the people will have as a final option the same final option that our Founding Fathers had and were forced to use, armed revolution.
Every politician in office, on their first day on the job, swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. While sweaing such an oath, it is impossible to not be reminded of how this nation was born. Every politician in office in this country knows that the people today are armed, just as they were in 1776, and that should the government become oppressive, the people have the means to replace it. The Second Amendment secured the rights we have, and still continues to secure those rights by reminding our "leaders" that they hold their position at the discretion of the people, and should they ever take it upon themselves to set themselves up as our masters rather than our representatives we are completely capable of correcting that situation if they do not see reason and fix it themselves.
Whether or not you yourself choose to own guns, always remember that those of us who do are not some fringe group, we are not "nuts," nor are we "bitter." What we are is Americans who exercise the rights our Founding Fathers fought and died for, and who are ready, if need be, to take up arms to defend our great nation and its people from any and all aggressors. We, and every other American, are the militia referred to in the Constitution, we are the original Homeland Security Department.
If you've read this far, obviously either you support the 2A as well, or are just curious to find out more about someone who so obviously does. If however you are one of those people who is totally opposed to firearm ownership, do us both a favor and go away. I have no time for the emotional rhetoric, propaganda, and hysteria that is spouted incessently by anti's because they have no facts to support their cause.
Im a recovering computer geek. Yeah I know, you never truly recover, but I'm trying. Not too difficult when the comp only holds my attention for lack of anything better to do.
