Do you understand the difference between dying for nothing and dying for something?

About Me

I'm just getting over a violent bacterial infection, the highlight of which includes lots of vomiting, a very painful shot in the butt and three days of non-stop sleep.Luckily, my mom drove down from Springfield to pick up William for the weekend. So, while I have been childless for three days, I have been unable to enjoy the freedom and thus, will do about the only thing I can do, which is update my MySpace profile. But I will not attempt to be witty or profound because I don't have the energy to do so.William is crawling all over the place, which presents a whole new set of challenges. He is getting cuter day by day. Just check out the new pictures if you don't believe me.Bryan and I have been doing yard work since May. I mowed and edged the lawn by myself which resulted in a pretty bad sunburn on my back. A gal at church (who works and puts her 5 month old in daycare) asked me why I got so badly burned. When I offered my explanation she laughed and said, "Oh, I would never do that. You know, we have Mexicans that can do it for you for $25.00." What I wanted to say was, "Those are the sacrifices I make so I have the ability to stay at home with my baby." What I said was nothing. Staying at home is NOT glamorous and it is hard work. I truly believe it would be easier for me to work outside the home. But I believe it is the best decision for my baby boy. What a lot of people think are necessary expenditures (pedicures, highlights, eating out, movies, paying for yardwork etc.) can all be eliminated. I haven't had a pedicure in over a year and my happiness has not been jeopardized. So, there I hopped on my soap box for a moment. But I am passionate about my little man and would do anything and give up anything for him.

Music:

Pretty much everything. We have XM Satellite Radio - and it's the coolest ever! With that and our buddy TIVO we never have to watch or listen to commercials ever again!

Movies:

I like movies that hit your soul so much that you are depressed for a few days after...The Pianist, Mystic River, Beautiful Mind etc. Also all musicals - Sound of Music, Grease, Rent etc. But I go for the blockbusters too like Pirates of the Carribean. So, pretty much anything that is entertaining - except for crude humor like 40 Year Old Virgin. There are better ways to spend my time...like reading celebrity gossip on Perezhilton.com!

Television:

24-aholic. I seriously have dreams that Jack Bauer is my boyfriend. Grey's Anatomy, Sex and the City, Project Runway (Bryan likes this one too!), Survivorman (on Discovery Channel), American Idol Auditions, Scrubs, My Name is Earl (Oh Snap!), What About Brian, and I love those medical shows about reconstructive and plastic surgery or nasty accidents or forensic mysteries. Bryan can't watch these so he leaves the room.

Books:

Currently reading The Problem from Hell, a history of Genocide. It's very intense so I can only read a few pages at a time. I try to alternate leisure reading (like chick lit) with something more thought-provoking and I'm on that rotation now. My favorite childhood book that I share with my twin Jess, is Matilda. We love the chapter on Brucie Bogtrotter when Trunchbull makes him eat the whole chocolate cake. I am a magazine subscription whore. Again, these are not technically books, but when I come home from a long day at work, I need light reading. US Weekly (I know, I know) InStyle Allure (from my makeup artist days) Vogue Real Simple W Travel and Leisure Domino (great new decorating mag)

Heroes:

Jesus Christ, my parents, the men and women who serve our country.
