Composer Bio
After studying composition and piano at Shenandoah University, Chris Ridenhour moved to LA in 1996 to work for film composer/orchestrator Todd Hayen and his wife Janice. With Janice, Chris worked on the scores of Mark Isham (BLADE, OCTOBER SKY, MEN OF HONOR), Lalo Schifrin (RUSH HOUR), Gary Chang (STORM OF THE CENTURY), John Debney (KOMODO), Shirley Walker (FINAL DESTINATION / BATMAN BEYOND) and many others. Chris also composed original music for Todd that was featured on HBO and HBO family.
In 1997 Chris composed music for the award winning interactive CDROM - THE UFO ANTHOLOGY. In late 1999 he composed the ballet 'CHAYA'S LETTER' for the Carol Solomon Dance Company and STEPHEN SPIELBERG'S Shoah Foundation, conducting this piece for holocaust survivors and a sold out audience at the Sinai Temple in West Hollywood on February of 2000.
In 2003 Chris teamed up with director Stephan Szpak-Fleet, composing music for his films including 'THE FIRST PERSON' starring Ed Begley Jr, 'THE SCULPTOR' and 'MY SILENT SADNESS' which went on to become the official selection of the SEDONA International Film Festival. Later that year, Chris and longtime friend Chris Cano formed MUSIC FOR ALL MEDIA, creating music for NIKE, YAHOO, SONY and COCA-COLA commercials.
In 2007 Chris wrote music for director Daniel Lusko's 'EPICENTER', a documentary film based on Joel Rosenberg's book about the crisis in the middle east. Chris also composed music for the Asylum mockbuster films, 'THE HITCHHIKER' and 'TRANSMORPHERS'. In December of that year Chris had his popular orchestral arrangement of 'WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS' performed by the prestigious National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center and conducted by Academy Award winner MARVIN HAMLISCH. Chris is currently writing a new piece for this orchestra to be premiered in 2009
In early 2008, Chris composed the score to the action adventure film 'JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH' starring Greg Evigan. In August of that year Chris composed an original musical adaptation and songs for 'AS YOU LIKE IT' for the Actors Co-op Theatre Company in Hollywood.
That same year, Chris joined the electro-goth band CINDERGARDEN as keyboardist and co-founded SIVA NOIR with Chris Cano and Lexi Newman. SIVA NOIR is currently a finalist in the 'Emergenza music festival' competition.
In October of 08, Chris composed his most ambitious project to date, the epic 90 minute orchestral score for the Mark Atkins fantasy film 'MERLIN AND THE WAR OF THE DRAGONS' following the adventures of the young apprentice wizard Merlin.
In late 2008 Chris founded RAVENSWOOD with singer/songwriter Sanya Mateyas, co-writing the songs 'CHAIN OF PROMISE' and 'HOLD THE MEMORY' which have appeared on the 'MERLIN' and 'DRAGONQUEST' films.
In early 2009 Chris composed the adventure score for 'DRAGONQUEST' and completed the feature length documentary 'THE JESUS BOAT REVEALED' which will appear on A&E as one film of a four part series.
