About Me
Currently working with top reggae producers of Equinox Records, and Seanizzle, Galaxy P is definitely staying focus for the 2009. Peter ‘Galaxy P’ Jackson, was born on December 22nd, 1975 in a small district in St. Catherine know as Macka Tree.
“I grew up in Macka Tree with my Mother, Sister and seven Brothers. I was the 5th child for my mother.†He recalls life being a struggle, especially having to grow with out a father. With a callus childhood, Galaxy P struggles made him stronger. At the age of 10, he fell in love with music. “I grew up listening to sounds like Saba International, and King Thundah. Every Weekend I would go and listen to some of the local area talentsâ€. By the age of 14 Galaxy, was baptized at the local church known as, “Macka Tree Church of Christ.†“I didn’t know what it was like to be a Christian; I just follow my friends because they always went to church, and I even joined the Choir and was the lead singer.†Galaxy attended youth camp where he developed his talent. He became very popular among his peers, taking on the nick name “Billy Boy.â€
Galaxy continued to sharpen his craft when he began to associate with Delroy and Desmond, the selectors of a sound known as ‘Galaxy’. “They use to let me chant and help out with the sound.†After living in Macka Tree for several years, Galaxy relocated to Spanish Town where he started to attend the studio. “While trying to get a break, a friend of mines by the name of Dave told me about a studio in Half Way Tree on East Park Road, by the name of ‘Mixing Lab’. When I went to the Mixing Lab, I was introduced to Bunny Wailer, who liked my vibe and invited me to come back and record for him. At first I was not aware that he was apart of the Wailers.†Being a round Bunny, Galaxy gained more knowledge of the industry. He later met Earl Hayles from Aquarius Records. Being around Earl Galaxy was able to network with a lot more people, allowing him to met one of Jamaica’s Reggae Icon Buju Banton, before he gained fame. “I met Collin Roach and he helped me with my flow and showed me how to do my thing properly.†Galaxy learned a lot and came along way, scoring his first big song ‘Miss Goodie Goodie’, featuring Collin Roach for King Jammys. In 1992 Galaxy P scored another hit song, ‘Tickle her Fancy’, for Penthouse Records. Galaxy released three albums, the first titled, ‘Old Friends’, under Charm records in 1993. In 1994 he then released his second album with VP Records titled, ‘Head Up’. In 1996 he released his third album ‘Make You Wet’. As the years went on Galaxy P released various singles. In 2002, he ventured into production for Rattler Records, signing a three album deal with VP Records. “Marvelous of Rattler Records and myself released the X5 Riddim, Trafalgar Riddim, and the Diesel Riddim.†Galaxy worked with popular Dancehall Artists known as ‘Ward 21’, landing him another hit single, ‘It Good’. The song is still in rotation at every reggae dance today.
With Galaxy facing much success, his life took a sudden turn for the worst. Galaxy was shot in his Greater Portmore home, by armed gun men. If that was not bad enough, a few months later while traveling on Washington Blvd Rd. in St. Andrew, Galaxy P crashed his SUV. Fortunately he survived, but the however vehicle was written off. Galaxy P conquered his obstacles by turning to the Bible, and other books that taught him about life. “In 2005 I began to grow my Locs. When I started growing my Locs, things started to change for me. I started to look at life different. People where more respectful.†Galaxy, conformed to a more Rastafarian lifestyle, and changed his name from Galaxy P to ‘Amunra Ptah’, Amun meaning self hidden; essence of all things; Ra denotes the Sun God, and Ptah represents the physical of all things. With his life now heading in a better direction, Galaxy P in 2006 toured with, “one of the most prolific leaders of the conscious Reggae dancehall movementâ€, Sizzla Kalonji.
Galaxy continues to master his craft, and shows a promising future for 2009 and beyond, now working with Equinox Records, Rattler Records, and young gunner, Seanizzle, to put out more future hit songs.Networking="all" height="500" width="445" align="middle" data="http://lads.myspace.com/photoshow/slideshow.swf""; I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!
