VOX & JACKS

About Me

VOX & JACKS... progressive electro? Retro-house? Hacienda? Whatever!!
After an unforgettable trip with their former band "REKASH" (PIAS) with gigs in places like Café d'Anvers & line-ups with DJ/producers Dr Lektroluv, MANDY, ..., John Vox and Phil Jacks continued as producer-DJ duo "Vox & Jacks". Experimenting more than ever with electronic music and re-inventing old-school house and club-music by adding their "Madwerp" flavour.
VOX & JACKS' tracks might remind you of the acid-house wave of late 80s/early 90s, yet their music is at the same time often described as being "inspiring" and "renewing".
Together with fellow Antwerp producers & DJ's, VOX & JACKS are identified with what critics already call "MADwerp"... A scene of DJ's/producers/musicians from the city of Antwerp, re-inventing the concept of house/club music.
The idea behind "MADWERP" is of course inspired by the MADchester scene in the late 80s and early 90s. Legendary Manchester based bands & producers like Stone Roses, 808State, Graeme Park, A guy called Gerald and others were re-defining the musical landscape of house/rock/club music at that time. People went "mad" on this new scene and danced their guts out in the infamous club "The Hacienda", runned by Factory Records owner, Tony Wilson.
Throughout 2008-2009 Vox & Jacks spent most of their time in their studio recording of what was planned to be a first full-cd: "Coco Brice". This record contains 12 tracks with a clear common denominator of catchy piano loops and dito bass lines. Although the Coco Brice album has not been officially released, people like Mark Moore (S-Express) and Graeme Park (resident at the legendary Haçienda club in Manchester) were very positive about it. The record did not end up in the charts (as it was never released)...  In stead, it ended up in the I-pod of Graeme Park himself. A nice compliment...
Mid 2009, Vox & Jacks teamed up with DJ Prinz and producer MAKS, founders of the Push It Records label and organizers of the notorious Push It parties (if you have never heard about these parties, you have been living on Jupiter for the last 5 years :-)). It was the perfect timing for Vox & Jacks to finally release the music of their Coco Brice album.
A first Vox & Jacks EP release on Push It Records is planned for April 2010, with a new video and remixes by icons like CJ Bolland and Graeme Park.
To celebrate this, a release event is planned for April 30 2010 at Stereo Sushi (Antwerp) with a "first time ever in Belgium gig" by Graeme Park + exclusive shows by Sven "Svengali" Van Hees, DJ Prinz and a live set by Vox & Jacks.
