Chris Calhoun is a singer/songwriter who is a Georgia native, born and raised in Decatur, GA. His first musical introduction was at the age of 4 when Chris used to listen in on his Uncle’s band while they played in their family home. Chris’ musical adventures officially began at the age of sixteen when his father bought him his first set of drums to keep him from playing on furniture around the house with his drumsticks. He played with some of the neighborhood boys regularly and formed a band. They played the Sadie Hawkins dances at the High School and landed some gigs at local clubs that allowed 18 and under musicians to play. In eleventh grade Chris and a friend were multi-tracking original songs at home and bringing cassettes to Mike Langford, who was the host of a late night radio show on Georgia Tech's WREK FM. They became regulars on the show and even did some co-hosting, recording new songs every week for the duration of the show. Shortly after high school graduation, Chris had joined KGB (Knight-Goodrich-Bouchard), a southern rock band that consisted of his high school and boy-scout buddies. They played some of the bigger venues in Atlanta and got the opportunity to record a full-length album in the studio of Atlanta musical namesake Ricky Keller. At the same time Chris had landed a part-time job working for Eddie Horst, a musical heavyweight composer based out of Atlanta. Chris got the opportunity to sing on some jingles and assist on some of Eddie’s projects at Doppler Sound Studios. Chris began doing session work exclusively as a keyboardist and rhythm guitarist. He has toured extensively around the United States with various groups , traveling as far as Yokohama, Japan. Chris is currently collaborating with Duron Davis, founder of the legendary southern gospel group The Davis Trio and the extremely talented producer/engineer John Johnson who has worked with numerous artists including Joe Diffie, Rhett Atkins and Gary Allan.
