Saving Nemo & Our Oceans

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

..Im just an individual trying to make a differnce for our Oceans. It's alarming what we are doing to them, and sad as well. I want to spread awareness and enlightenment in hopes of making a positive difference in this world. Im not here to shove an agenda down anyone's throats, Im here to evoke positive changes for a better future...
The Oceans are vital to our survival yet we are dumping billions of gallons of garbage, sewage and even toxic chemicals into it like it's our personal trash can. I dont think a lot of people are aware that the everyday choices they make in their lives affect our Oceans and our ecosystem. We are also mass killing many of our marine life to near extintion for our greed, amusement & appetite without thought of how their losses will in the end affect us. Our blue planet is a delicately balanced ecosystem and we are in the process of destroying that balance and if we dont do something now, it will be too late.
I hope to be able to network and befriend all those who also want to make a difference, but also to show those who are unaware that there is a better way to live our lives..with compassion and consciousness of the world in which we inhabit.
Whether you add me or not, I thank you for visiting my page and for taking a minute to read what I have to say and the information posted on here. If you have any questions or just want to say hi, please drop me a line! Come back and visit often, I'll be adding new things and updating as time goes!
Namaste & God Bless you all
....After overfishing, the greatest human impact on marine species is “bycatch,” the unintentional injury or capture of wildlife during fishing operations. Engaging fisherman in the search for innovative solutions is one key to progress. Ultimately, successful practices and technologies will need to be deployed internationally, where a large proportion of harmful bycatch occurs. Problem: Human impacts on the ocean environment have left many species of marine mammals and sea turtles vulnerable to extinction. The U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy recently identified bycatch as the largest source of mortality for these animals and its reduction the number one priority for their conservation and recovery. The ocean is the engine that drives our planet’s climate. It is our life support system, providing much of the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the resources we depend on for life every day. The ocean is essential for life.Unfortunately, the ocean will be the first ecosystem to suffer widespread effects of global climate change. Increasing levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases pose major threats to our ocean as well as our atmosphere. Widespread effects brought on by higher air and water temperatures include loss of sea ice, sea level rise, extreme weather events, and harmful changes to marine fish and wildlife populations. Increased concentrations of carbon dioxide will lead to acidification of ocean water, threatening many ocean organisms, particularly corals and important species at the base of the ocean food web.The picture is grim, but ultimately, this is a message of hope because the will to act and the solutions are the products of knowledge. It is not too late to act. The big question remains will our federal government provide the vision and leadership we need, or will that role fall to the States and world leaders?
