“THE 14th DEGREE and BEYOND, INC. IS DEDICATED TO FURTHERING AND NURTURING THE STRENGTH OF ORIGINAL WOMEN AND CHILDREN BY SPONSORING, FACILITATING, AND EDUCATING THROUGH CLASSES, PUBLICATIONS, AND EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY…â€
The name of our magazine and non-profit organization - The 14th Degree and Beyond - refers to the 14th Degree of the Lost Found Muslim Lesson Number 1 (the 1-14) which says a refined woman's duty is to raise children, take care of their husbands, keep a house, cook, sew and know how to act at home and abroad. ‘Beyond' being added to "The 14th Degree" indicates that these are indeed necessary training units for a woman to learn, know and practice, but her full responsibility to self, family and community goes far "beyond" those duties mentioned. A woman is skilled for knowing those previously stated duties, however, she is not limited to them alone, and the scope of dutiful womanhood expands far beyond these boundaries.
The objective of The 14th Degree and Beyond, Inc. is to function as a bridge of communication and awareness for original women around the globe. We are a group of peaceful, loving, cultural sisters who strive to rebuild our impoverished communities based on the foundation of knowledge, wisdom, understanding, and cultural refinement. We know and understand that in order to manifest our dreams of achieving heaven here on earth, each and every individual and communal organization needs to hold themselves responsible for the education, safety, proper nurturance and thus securing of a successful future for our youth. And so we see it as our responsibility as women, mothers and nurturers to educate one another, and in turn instill within our children the values of knowledge, civility, righteousness, humanitarianism, activism, love, peace, and respect for self, peers, younger generations and elders. Our goal is to inform them that life itself is our most precious jewel, and knowledge is the basic foundation needed to achieve mental enlightenment and build a prosperous future upon.
The women of The 14th Degree and Beyond, Inc. are dedicated to furthering and nurturing the strength of women and children of our community through our independent publication - The 14th Degree and Beyond Magazine - which was in circulation from 1998 until 2004; and in September, 2008, we renewed our circulation with the issue "There Is No Beginning or Ending..." The magazine is informative, and has featured articles on a number of topics including, but not limited to, the dangers of immunization, economic development and investing, sickle cell anemia, the September 11th tragedy, and has been constant with providing a seeds section, now called "Training Units", which is specifically geared toward our children and teens and includes crossword puzzles, word searches and other intellectually stimulating games and articles for the youth, and often written by the youth.
Featured sections within each issue include:
