Broward Folk Club

About Me

Please visit our sponsors:
The Broward Folk Club is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote folk and acoustic music and to provide a community for people who share a love for it.
The BFC held its first songswap in March of 1988. Twenty-one people showed up for that first meeting. Today the BFC has a large active membership.
The Broward Folk Club presents:
• Music in the Park
a monthly event at Secret Woods Nature Center.
• Open Mic
a monthly event at Fresh Aroma Coffee Bar.
• Folk Music Open House
a monthly, more intimate folk music party at member's homes.
• Annual Picnic
a yearly membership meeting, voting for our board, picnic, music, music and more music!
• South Florida Folk Festival
The SFFF is a major festival, the highlight of the BFC's year. The 2008 Festival featured over 40 artists, including Mason Williams, Chad & Jeremy, The Kennedys, Zoe Lewis and Cosy Sheridan. The Workshop Stage gives Festival goers an opportunity to learn various aspects of music from the performers in an intimate setting. Our Singer-Songwriter Competition extends an invitation to musicians all over the country to participate. The competition was created by the South Florida Folk Festival to encourage and facilitate growth for singer/songwriters.
Over the years, the BFC also produced the Raven Coffeehouse; a Benefit Concert for Broward House, a residence for AIDS victims; and a Benefit Concert for Women in Distress, a residence for battered women and their children. In prior years the South Florida Folk Festival made contributions to the Daily Bread Food Bank and the Adam Walsh Fund.
The Broward Folk Club is open to anyone who has a love for folk music, be they performer or listener. The low annual membership fee of $20 for individuals and $25 for families entitles members to many benefits. We welcome additional donations.
• Monthly Newsletter and Calendar
The BFC newsletter includes details for all our events, in addition to a comprehensive listing of other music events in the tri-county area. We also feature a list of South Florida music Venues.
• Discounts
Members enjoy discounts to BFC events & other folk happenings, Rise Up Singing Songbooks, and BFC T-Shirts. Members will enjoy discount tickets to the upcoming FOLK ROUND UP in Davie!
