Frank Feranna was born December 11,1958 in San Jose,California.His father left when he was very young and his mother jumped from guy to guy more than he could keep up with.He had trouble fitting in at school had soon had nowhere to go.His mother lived in Seattle,Washington and moved from place to place often. He soon started staying with his grandparents in Idaho for what started as weekends then months,summers,years,then he began not going back home to his mother. He legally changed his name to Nikki Sixx because he was named after his father,who he had much anger for.
Before he knew it,he was in Los Angeles,California. Around the drugs and alcohol that was seducing him and he soon found himself lost in the world.
He was in and out of bands for his teenage years,never finding a home,he worked in a record store,and worked selling light bulbs over the phone,and in a liquor store where he met Mick Mars.
Not getting along,Mick left and they didn't come in contact for years. Soon after,meeting a crazy drummer,a singer with the looks that drew more girls to him than he could handle,and a guitarist that had played like nothing he had seen before.Before they knew it,Motley Crue was formed.
Playing small shows at the Whisky A Go Go and other local L.A. clubs and bars,they starting drawing a crowd,in 1981,they started recording their first album,Too Fast For Love. After that,the roller coaster was going full speed and it wouldn't be long til it started heading off the tracks for Nikki. He was using drugs and drinking like none of the other members of the band and it got out of hand before anybody knew what was happening.
In 1987,after near death and millions of dollars used on drugs and booze,Nikki's addiction was spinning too far out of control.On December 22,1987 Nikki overdosed on heroin and was pronounced clinically dead. Paramedics shot him with two shots of adrenaline and was rushed to the hospital.The next morning after waking up and realizing where he was,Nikki tore the tubes out of his arm and walked out to find two upset fans. He asked the two girls for a ride home,got one of their shirts,and heard of his own death on the radio.When he got home,he changed his answering machine to "Hi,it's Nikki,I'm not here because I'm dead." Then went and shot heroin again.
Christmas day that year,he decided to make a life changing decision,to get clean.
It's been 20 years since Nikki used heroin and nearly as much since he's been completely clean.Now,Nikki is completely clean and sober,he doesn't use drugs,alcohol,and he even kicked smoking to the curb.He started a progam for run away kids in Covenant House called Running Wild In The Night,he is a photographer,and has two bands,Motley Crue and Sixx A.M.,he is a single father of 4 and now has a girlfriend,Kat Von D of LA Ink. He is a songwriter,producer,bass player,and has been involved in writing the Motley book,The Dirt, and published his book,The Heroin Diaries in which he let's the world read diary entries that were written in the worst point in his life,hoping to reach and help people with similar problems.
Nikki isn't just a rockstar with good looks,he's a hero to many.
