In 1872, a group of young guys organized a meeting to establish a fire company in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Setting their sights low, the boys asked the Town Council for a little red suction engine and an old reel of leather hose. They became the Junior Hose & Truck Company No 2.
In 2007, the original firehouse, the home of the Junior H&T Co., was purchased and saved from being leveled to make way for another parking lot. Beyond just preserving the building, a decision was made to keep the story and history alive in tribute to the ‘boys’ that started the fire company more than 100 years ago.
