Señor Elgado is one of the most talented underground DJ and currently the hottest and most promising artiste poised for the big break out of Jamaica this year. His amazing lyrical flow and prowess teamed with a unique sound fused with the influence of Latin music as displayed on some of this year's hottest rhythms has set him shoulders above his contemporaries. Now he is about to blow up the spot with his much talked about debut album La Musica de Reggae. Señor Elgado (real name Fidel Sutherland), one of thirteen siblings, grew up in the Rose Town community off Maxfield Avenue. He attended Trench Town Comprehensive High School in Kingston, where he served as a deputy head boy. He first validated his writing skills at the age of 12 when he entered a competition sponsored by the Gleaner Company and KPMG Peat Marwick entitled “Don’t be a Litterbug†where he secured first place which earned him prize money of $5,000.00. He from then began experimenting in the art of writing; short stories, poetry, novels, plays and now songs. It was during his High School years that he discovered the art of writing music, but was keen ..ing his education and subsequently ventured into the entertainment field.Due to his father always promising to take him to the studio from as early as age four; Señor Elgado felt compelled to start a career in the field of music. He was exposed to a wide range of music from a tender age. He would listen to music from singers like Kenny Rogers, Sam Cooke, Ben E. King, Beres Hammond and the King of Reggae himself Bob Marley. He later became a great fan of dancehall music being influence by his own musical heroes such as Bounty Killer, Papa San, Sizzla, Capleton, Buju Banton, Vybz Kartel, Idonia, Busy signal and the list goes on.Sr. Elgado has already released songs Like Easy which displays creative writing skills, combined with flows like none other and just giving you something to talk about. Socorro is another tune released this year which is a combination of Spanish reggaeton music fused with hardcore dancehall, which is a combination never heard in that format before. The world awaits Sr. Elgado and he is in no doubt ready to take on the challenge.
