Culture Rising is a community oriented project that is dedicated to the success of independent musicians, graphic artists, writers, and clothing designers. We are committed to becoming a permanent stronghold for the growth, exposure, and promotion of local independent talent. Owned and operated by musicians, it is our goal to become a major supporter of the flourishing independent community in the 905.
Culture Rising encompases many things. We are a record store, we are an art store, and we are a community comprised of like-minded individuals. Above all, we are a culture shop that sells and exposes items created by local artists to their primary audience.
Culture Rising is located in the heart of Streetsville, Mississauga; the centre of independent music and art in the city. Streetsville has established a thriving music community through literally hundreds of independent concerts at the Masonic Lodge, and has successfully showcased many local artists at the Learning Club art gallery. Streetsville has a large, sustainable market for a store seeking to support independent music, art, clothing, and literature.
Culture Rising carries music and merch created by you, your peers, and your favourite local bands. We welcome all E.P.s, full-length albums and singles. If merchandise is what you want, we sell Mississaugas largest selection of local band t-shirts, including hard-to-find, out-of-run prints. We also carry concert and event tickets.
All forms of artwork are welcome in our store. Whether you are a professional artist, or a talented art student, Culture Rising will display your work to an appreciative audience. Out of materials? Culture Rising also stocks a selection of art supplies at artist-friendly prices.
In order to provide a fresh point-of-view on current political issues, Culture Rising intends to carry a selection of independtley published print media, including: zines, essays and books.
If fashion is your passion, Culture Rising carries the latest styles created by independent clothing companies and individual fashion designers. Please approach us with your apparel.
A large selction of quality body jewlery, organic plugs, earlets, bongs, pipes, and other forms of glass art are are also available.
All mark-up prices are negotiable between artists and the store. We are commited to working out the best possible deal.
