Band Members: It's a lonely world after all these years. Only Davco still reliably shows up with me; having started this whole thing back nearly 50 years ago. And of course he's a mere alter ego so physically inseparable from me in any event. Dr. Blue, the entity known as my Boston venue pseudonym and then star of my internal conflict as musical performer has split the scene altogether as it's become apparent there are several pretenders to that name elsewhere. Eric the Red, who has appeared with me on & off since 1964, left about 10/06 when a new day-gig and move made it impractical to continue after a 2 year run on bass. Father Nelson has replaced him for perhaps 150 live nights since then only a bit sporadically. Recently David Blossom has gotten too busy with Reddy Teddy guitarist Ted in their Pteradactyl show but ironically Ted sat in to replace him with me recently. Tommy Schulz, once of the TV series Hootenanny so long ago was my main crutch on guitar from 05/05 to late 2006 but also has dropped off the edge of the world. Chance Brown has helped out a couple of times but Charlie Karp has graciously permitted me to embed my act into his show like New Years eve 2007, last May and at irregular intervals. Some nights I've had Bruce the Air Controller saxman or Brian Ready, guitar [with or w/o his band Fade to Blues to lean on for additional support. It's more laborious to name all the drummers who've saved me from my own strange sense of time [wake up Davco, it's still 1965, you're safe. Everybody else you know is also still in the garage] What's about to happen? Don't know but embarrassing pics have surfaced this week of me onstage with the Uncle Bob's Mustache Band- thank God I didn't destroy their ambience. The new studio cuts coming out are with Charlie Karp on bass, we share drums/ percussion and Reddy Teddy is committed [or will be certified to be committed for] a project of much more modern original material se blogs]. Don't hold your breath [or your hit] but please tune back in from time to time. Some "rough mixes" of the new stuff could appear as soon as tonight if Mrs. Doc serves me enough cocktails...
