About Me

Satoko Kajita was born in Nagoya, Japan, and started playing the piano when she was four years old. After graduating from Kobe City University of Foreign Studies with Bachelor of Arts in foreign studies, she entered graduate school to study English literature and also started learning jazz vocal at the Ozone Music School. She had sung professionally in a jazz orchestra, jazz club, many festivals, concerts and the homes for the elderly in Kobe. After receiving Master of Arts in English literature and entering the doctoral course at graduate school, she had taught literature as a lecturer at the university for three years. In 2003, she won a scholarship for Berklee College of Music in Boston, US, and majored in Performance on voice. In 2005, she received Two Year Certificate from Berklee. In 2006, she moved in New York to study at the Teacher Certification Program of The American Center for the Alexander Technique. She has just been certified as the teacher in March this year. She teaches it around New York City area. She composes her original songs, and also plays the Sanshin, the traditional three stringed instrument from Okinawa, Japan, singing the songs from the islands. Her first CD"Life" is now available at iTunes, CDbaby.com and DigStation.com! The CD is also introduced in the digital JAZZIZ MAGAZINE now(page 37, on the top of the left side)!
