SUP MAG REVIEW //
I found this ethos running through Paradise City as I chatted backstage with Helena, one of the M.O.B Girls - who I had earlier reckoned would have me down for breakfast fodder. The M.O.B Girls have an important, crowd pleasing role at Paradise City. They take to the stage between bands, sexily frolicking to songs such as Warrant’s Cherry Pie whilst pouring vodka over themselves and directly into the mouths of the baying crowd. ‘We love working at Paradise City because anyone can come here and not feel intimidated by having to look or act a certain way. You can be whoever you want here.’ I could tell by the cheeky look on Rob’s face as he snapped exhibitionist Missy exchanging ice cubes with fellow M.O.B Girl Miss Mimi - that he was enjoying his break from our usual, partying norm. I was, but I was also smarting from finding out that Helena was Rocky Horror Picture Show author Richard O’Brien’s niece and that through a cheeky spot of nepotism, she had piped me to a spot on Junior Crystal Maze, of which he was the presenter.
Review From Lee Cooper for The Guardian ; //
You're probably already familiar with the Paradise City of rock'n'roll lore: it's where the grass is green and the girls are pretty, in case you need a refresher course. Now, though, it's also a hard-working Soho metal disco which favours riffs as big as the Elnett-heavy 1980s bouffants of Warrant, Mötley Crüe and Twisted Sister. Playing tunes of the lowdown and dirty guitar variety, this is definitely not the place to come should you be looking for a low-key acoustica, however, if it's tattoo inspiration and the smell of leather freshly doused in vodka that you're wanting, you've come to the right place. Presiding over the madness are the MOB Girls, a scantily-clad gaggle of PVC favouring lasses who'll be breaking hearts and then possibly arms if you don't play nice. Live acts this evening include session star Adam Bomb as well as Dear Superstar, Disarm and Zen Motel.• Madame Jo Jo's, W1, Thu 23
