About Me

SEXKULT is a new concept project written and produced by San Francisco/NYC DJ & musician, Cecil Grey. Mixing elements of electronica with alternative rock, Cecil has created an original strain of modern music that will appeal to fans of Underworld, Love & Rockets, and The Knife. Like these artists, Cecil has blended the best of underground dance music production techniques with lyrical songwriting.

This debut album is a testament of Cecil Grey’s previous 12 years of experience as a vocalist and songwriter. He began his career at 15 as lead guitarist in the Los Angeles live band The Thorns, co-writing and playing opening slots for Christian Death and other luminous gothic rock acts. In 1994 he ventured into electronic music as a collaborator and vocalist with ex-Machines of Loving Grace members Lost Prophet, achieving radio play on local college stations. He then finished his degree in multimedia at UCLA and relocated to San Francisco to become involved with the underground drum’n’bass dance scene, and became a featured writer for Urbansounds.com. After DJing extensively in the states as DJ Panic, Cecil Grey began producing original tracks, including “Operator” and “Highway 2 Hell”, which were played by heavyweight DJs Dara and DB of Breakbeat Science Records in New York. A song from The Utmost In album, titled “I'm Your Beast”, was recently selected to be included in the soundtrack of the DVD release of the independent film Mango Kiss (forthcoming).

Sexkult is more than just a studio project. A supporting band is presently being formed to promote this project and evolve from the standard electronica performance into an unpredictable live experience that brings the music on this album to life. These songs are presented here as an earnest endevour to create an attractive partnership with an interested record label. Please contact the artist to get an early opportunity to include this talented new act with your current roster of artists. The Utmost In is bound to penetrate the uppermost regions of the present musical landscape.
