Scharling

About Me

Shaking the walls of concert venues and recording studios alike, Scharling has spent the past several years distilling its sound to an off-kilter combination of indie, experimental, and good old-fashined hard rock. Hailing from the backwoods of Cobleskill, New York, this trio draws influence from such diverse sources as The Who, Talking Heads, TOOL, and The Eels, making each performance a veritable smorgasbord of styles and sounds.
Lead singer/guitarist Chris Scharling plays the role of navigator on the group's relentless bruise cruise, powered by the hard-hitting rhythmic engine of Lawrence Basso (percussion/vocals) and Adam Lawrence (bass/vocals). With a collaborative songwriting philosophy and three pair of keen ears, the group's catalog is constantly evolving as new material is created and existing tunes are maniuplated and morphed beyond recognition.
Recipients of an honorable mention in the 2008 RPM Challenge, Scharling is currently working on a complete overhaul of the 2008 album "Crown Remedy," with anticipated release in fall 2009. With a new crop of tunes already in hand, a followup album is expected in early 2010.
