About Me

Image by Cool Text: Logo and Button Generator - Create Your Own Okay, here's a little bit about me: I'm 42 years old. Was born on Dec. 15, 1965 (yes, I was one of those kids with a birthday dangerously close to Christmas) in Greenville, SC. When I was 5 I moved to Pompano Beach, Fla with my family due to my dad being transferred there. He was an electrician. It was at this early age I first discovered my love of rock n roll via an old 45 of Little Richards song "Tutti Frutti". It changed my life forever. I must've listened to that old record a million times. At the time, it was mom, dad, me, my sister Lisa and my little brother Jody. We lived there for about a year before moving back to Greenville. We moved again when I was 8. This time we moved to Orlando, Fla. (the home of Mickey Mouse), where we lived in an apartment that backed the old radio station WHOO off of Silverstar Road. I can still remember the Greeks III restaurant and GiGi who worked there. I also remember the DJs at the radio station who would give me and my sister old 45's to listen to. They were mostly country, but they were free! It was at this time that we learned my little brother Jody had Leukemia. He had to go to a hospital in Gainsville Fla. for treatment where my mom would go and stay with him, while my dad worked and took care of Lisa and I. At the time we didn't really understand completely what was going on and why mom and Jody had to be gone so much. About a year later dad, Lisa and I moved back to Greenville for dad's work, but mom and Jody had to stay behind for his treatments. They moved back almost a year later, but visited back and forth on the weekends when they could. During this time Lisa and I stayed with my grandmother or whoever could keep us at the time while dad worked to keep the family going. In 1978 at age 6 Jody went to be with the Lord. It was a very hard time for us all. I still say that Jody was the smartest one in the family. At age 14, I got my first guitar...a Hondo II, red sunburst. You can see it in my pictures I have posted. I was very proud of it. The first song I learned to play was "Michael Row your Boat Ashore" which was nothing like the rock n roll I had in my head. I knew then, I had to change plans, this folk music just wasn't cutting it. I needed to Rock!! I soon found a new teacher, Michael King at Fifth String Music Studio who taught me my first rock song..."Highway Song" by Blackfoot. I was stoked and truly in love with music at that point. I continued learning and grew musically until money became tight and the lessons had to go. But I never gave up, because I wanted to Rock n Roll!!! I soon discovered girls and music took a backseat to the long hair and pretty lips. Then I discovered alcohol to make the ugly girls prettier LOL. I wasted many years getting drunk and partying and playing the same old 12 bar blues in different keys, until I turned 35 and put all the drinking and drugs behind me. When I was 38 I met back up with my first girlfriend and now Fiance' Angela. We joined a band with her cousin Danny named Electric Bluez Cafe and played with them for the next year and a half. At the same time, we had started writing originals and doing our own thing. We soon discovered that our paths were different than those of our bandmates and Electric Bluez disbanded. At the current time, we have written over 25 original songs, are having a couple looked at by a friend in LA for possible publishing and are trying to find a bass player and drummer for our band Drivin' Blind. In my spare time, I'm working on some solo instrumentals that I think would go great as part of movie soundtracks. Check them out on my player. The rest of the story has yet to unfold.
