About Me
Hip-hop artist and producer, Blais, formerly known as E.Blaze, has quite literally ’Blaze’d his way onto the music scene within the past year. His recognition and popularity has torpedoed its way to the top of the underground hip-hop scene while his abilities and maturity have developed and evolved into the workings of a seasoned artist. With the hard-hitting combination of inner-city appeal, advanced rapping agility, and alluringly seductive lyrics, Blais continues to prove that he is undoubtedly a ’triple threat’ to the hip-hop game.
Little did anyone suspect that the black and italian native from Brooklyn would be where he is today. At a remarkably young age, ‘Blais’ recognized his passion for music, describing the feeling as “Music was a part of me…it always had been.†As Blais grew older, his love of music inspired him to pursue an interest in dance at the age of five, which eventually led him to discover the musical medium that he would embrace for the rest of his life; the lyrically powerful and inspiring beat of hip-hop.
"I always knew that music was something that I really wanted to do," Blais smiles, "I had a lot to say I just needed ’sound’. An artist has his brush, his canvas, and his paint: I’m armed with my paper, my pen, and my message."
The year 2004 brought Blais many new opportunities as well as allies in the music industry when he was introduced to a group of talented artists in the Virginia area. Two of these artists, Keyon Hayes and Big N.O.T.E. Wesly, were owners of the group "Aggrivated Muzik" and they immediately took note of Blais’ talent and potential. Soon, the group made the decision to extend the group by adding new Virginia talent, one of which being Blais.
"We had so much talent, but it was so hard to get in the studio. So I went out and bought equipment so we could do it ourself", said Blais. Before long, the group would embark on what would become their mission as artists: to radically change the entire game of hip-hop. Armed with extraordinary talent, fresh faces, and a keenly focused determination, the group began almost immediately bringing heat to VA; and the underground music scene was loving it. Soon after "Aggrivated Muzik Mixtape Volume 1" was released in June of 05, the group was asked to perform at well-known H.B.C.U. Norfolk State University during BET College Tour Weekend which featured Lil Wayne, Trina and Young Jeezy.
Blais was then enjoying the first of what would eventually be many career-building achievements. He began to notice that his biggest musical bond was with the backbone of the group, Big N.O.T.E. Both artists shared a love for music and had plans to evolve Aggrivated Muzik from a regional legend to a hip-hop frontrunner. With Big Note having to relocate back to Arlington, TX, Blais felt that it was only right to keep the music going. It was time to see if the group was talented enough to compete with some of the industry’s brightest stars.
Two years and many musical milestones later, the two had proven that they were not only able to compete with the talent in the south: they had earned the notoriety and fan-base that established them as two of the industry’s up and coming stars. With this experience in his pocket, Blais decided that he was ready to take his career to the next level. In January of 2007, Blais announced that he would begin to work on a long-anticipated solo album. With over 300 pieces of production, Blais has unrelentingly continued to hit the studio hard. "It’s not easy trying to juggle work (producing) and play (gigs), but it’s what I do, it’s what I love to do. I’m not really even sure I have a choice in the matter," he laughs.
Not even a year after deciding to pursue a solo career, Blais has achieved an astounding measure of success, causing him to turn several industry label heads. Demonstrating his talent both in the studio as well as a performer, he has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry including Pit Bull, Paul Wall, Krazie Bone, Slim (112), Lil Flip, Manny Fresh, and Baby Bash.
With thousands of dedicated fans, Blais had thousands of supporters and currently has over 100,00 online views. July 2007, he performed at the 1st Annual Play N Skillz All Star Weekend ft. Slim Thug, Play N Skillz, Kinfolk Kia Shine, Amanda Perez, Candy Hill and much more (estimated crowd of 20,000).
Blais is unrelentingly pursuing his dream, infiltrating the game with both his message and his music. He is currently releasing his debut single "One Night", which will give listeners a taste of both worlds; hip hop and pop. "It’s a incredible song. The fans are going to eat this one up." smiled Blais. The single releases in May 10th, 2008.
