About Me

Few artists’ can openly straddle the line between sacred and sac-religious and get away with it, but then again Vero is not your typical rap artist. Unlike many, Vero openly embraces the contradictions that exist within him as a man. He uses his music as an outlet to openly explore his own hypocrisy with sharp wit and keen observation. Born Veron Ricardo DeBique, by way of West Indian parents (St. Vincent to be exact); music has always played an integral part in Vero’s life. Being the son of a former musician only helped to diversify his musical tastes. Everyone from Marvin Gaye, to David Bowie, to Bob Marley all passed through the DeBique household. But once Vero discovered hip hop he was hooked!! Vee always liked to draw as a child, but as soon as he heard L.L. Cool J’s “I’m Bad” he knew immediately that he wanted to be an emcee.
Most of his high school years were spent cutting classes and battling other would be rappers for bragging rights. Through those battles Vero meet another aspiring emcee/producer by the name of Sos. Recognizing their musical chemistry, the two formed an alliance and created a group with another rhyme partner, called Low Budget Achievement. Even though Low Budget would eventually disband, Vero and Sos continued to work together making music. As years would go by, through constant grindin’, Sos and Vero would encounter many other like minded artists. One who stood out was a charismatic spitter named Ry-Know. What started off as a friendly rivalry, would eventually lead to frequent collaboration’s between the three of them. Sharing the same aspirations for success, the three entrepreneurs decided to join forces and created the label Fortune Five Entertainment.
With the aptly titled ”Blue Blood“ being the first official release from the company, success seems to be on the horizon for Vero. He promises an album with enough diversity to attract even the most fickle of rap fans. Exploring a wide array of subject’s such as revolution, religion, love, street life, and industry politics Vero is fearless in his approach as a rapper. He’s an artist who’s willing to cause controversy, as long as it can lead to discussions and possible solutions to problems. Rugged, but smooth. Hardcore yet mainstream. The T Dot has a has another name to add to its long legacy in hip hop, and that name is Vero.
