AUTOBODY

About Me

Autobody is an intimate word of mouth party that so far has taken place at Hyperion Tavern on a monthly to bi-monthly basis.Alternating resident DJs are: Clay Lerner / Price Vernon / The Two (K. Hanley and Jan Tumlir).Featured DJs:Tony Watson (Mekanic, Project Sandro-LA) -A DJ and producer, Tony Watson has basked in the glow of local nightlife honors, including the "Best DJ-Selector" (per LA Weekly), and as a promoter, his parties have ranked among URB magazine's "Best Intimate Soirees. Thanks to Body Music, his sonic signature comprising intelligent selections of house, disco, funk, Afrobeat and beyond - basically, "anything that makes your body move" - he's left an indelible imprint on the L.A. scene. Watson's current career momentum dates to 2000 and his three-year residency at MORE Fridays, a popular weekly party that attracted legendary DJs Kerri Chandler and Harvey (and major Watson influences), among others. Soon thereafter, his DJ style, literally, took on a life of its own. Regular Body Music events sprang up around L.A., further cementing his sound and vision. Currently, Watson's DJ gigs and solo productions (also using the moniker "Mekanic") are supplemented by collaborations with DJ Rylo and under aliases Project Sandro (with Rollmottle) and Nice Dreams (with Royaer). These dynamic duos have spawned several well-received singles - notably, Project Sandro's "Blazer" - which also appears on Sonar Kollektiv's Computer Incarnations for World Peace II. www.mekanic.com• Paul T (Sarcastic) - L.A. native favorite and international tastemaker always offers an incredible set. Paul T. has been bringing innovative DJ talent to L.A. for memorable parties (Harvey Sarcastic Disco, Unlock the House, Head Room... the list goes on.) since the early 90's, and is responsible for introducing a refined experimental disco phenomena to Los Angeles. www.sarcasticclothing.com• Greta - This is the long awaited reappearance by local favorite DJ / composer Greta. Greta came on the scene as part of the Los Angeles "rave" and "Full Moon" phase of the early 90's, and later appeared as the resident DJ at Motionsick parties. Greta, a tastemaker among those who are exposed to his work, has introduced sensibilities such as "adult contemporary" and "euro synth pop" when it was still uncomfortable to digest in a dance mix. Greta has released tracks under the name Grain among other aliases.Promotion by Plastica (www.plasticashop.com) and Motionsick.
