About Me

I am an attorney who loves to travel and enjoys the company of good friends. I love food, love trying new restaurants, and love to cook. My family is growing with the newest edition... my nephew and the Rahns!!! I have an amazing man in my life who inspires me to strive to be my best, and supports me each step of the way :) I am truly blessed to have found such a wonderful person who sincerely and deeply adds to every single joy, supports every single goal and loves me through each and every daily trial. With him, I have an extended family, a supportive community and an honest love that knows no bounds. ************************************************************ ******* ************************************************************ ************************* ************************.. For the Bride:Liz, first I have to say how beautiful you look today, and to tell you that this has truly been a special day for me. Thank you for giving true meaning to the word sister, letting me be a sister to you during this very special time, and for sharing the last 27 years with me.There are probably not too many jobs (dad) harder than giving your sister away. I have been attached at your hip since the day I was born. I used to chase you around the house, listen at your door when you had friends over, and even sleep in your bed when you were abroad for the summer.Liz and I have had some strange, funny and beautiful moments. She taught me how to wear my mom’s makeup and not get caught so we could dance to “Like a prayer” videos all day long. She taught me about style, about taking risks and seeing the world when you are young. She was the first person who taught me about the birds and the bees-- I was in kindergarten-- and it didn’t go over so well when my explanation included neither birds nor bees. There were several years between us, but I never understood why she wanted to hang out with people her own age, why we couldn’t be best friends.I did appreciate all the time we spent together, though. In high school, Liz drove carpool every day, which -- between your driving skills and my attitude-- I am incredibly impressed we still speak. When Liz almost singlehandedly killed, and I mean KILLED our science teacher (and my crush), well, I am amazed we speak today.I have always watched my sister, even at a distance, admiring how she could get away with so much, and still make deans list.Lets just say the sister I know broke the mold. You have consistently been daring, adventurous and confident in everything you do. You are staunchly independent, fearless in foreign countries, and incredibly self reliant. To me you are the literal definition of ‘self confident: I have never REALLY known how you do it, but I guess that’s the point.Scott, from the first time I saw you together, I thought you would be a real match. You are both incredibly intelligent and ambitious-- and I don’t even want to think about the conversations you might get into-- yet you have such a calming, comfortable and jovial presence. Elizabeth is a difficult nut to crack. She is incredibly strong, and driven, but also very self-protective and cautious. When I see you together, I see her relaxed and open, still strong, just less guarded. To be candid, my sister has changed from the person I once knew. She went from a very busy and overcommitted person to the calm, centered, and generous sister I know today.I must say, you two have been the reason for some of my proudest moments. When I first held Oliver, my world changed. He has fundamentally shifted where I belong in this universe. You two, your love for each other and your love for Oliver has created the newest beautiful extension of both of our families. Thank you.Today, I was beyond proud to stand by your side today when you said, “I do.” I was able to support you in you last steps in your own respective lives, and watch you as you took your first steps as husband and wife, together. Your marriage has given us the gift of a new family. I admire your commitment-- your love for each other and your families--- your lust for life-- and your ability to share that with one another.Scott, my last admonition: take good care of her.I love you both. – and I think you are a beautiful family,

colloquial racism

There is nothing so disapointing as a racist remark. Fun and jokes and banter. It is what it is, not what you say it is. it is a sad moment when I find these remarks as funny. Even acceptable. I have ...
