Skinny and Amadeus the Stampede have been friends for 14 years. While becoming members of the same band Fequency 7, with whom they have played hundreds of shows, they keep a very strong bond, musically and otherwise. They consider themselves to be brothers and kindred spirits. In the end 2004, after being apart for many years, the two artists decided to record some songs over industry beats. Songs they can entertian themselves with while they partook in their legendary drinking.
Alchoholics or not, the kids can spit fire that will burn down racial barriers and blur the edges of different music genres worldwide. In January 2005, while in a drunken stupor, the two decided to become an official hip hop act.
"I was leaning back in my seat to handle the spinning", says Skinny, taking a second to spit out his tobacco dip, "and mentioned that we hadn't come up with a name yet and Amz slurs 'Born Losers' and I thought it summed us up".
"Think about it", says Amz, "its not a negative thing. I'm a ghetto rocker and he's a suburban hip hop head. We are both underdogs individually, so when we come together it seems that our chances are even slimmer. But we are not gonna lose this one."
Their debut Ep "Bread Winnners" is a collection of songs that are 3 dimensional and capable of giving you an excellent understanding of who Born Losers really are. Of course you'll hear references of alchoholism which may seem to glorify drug abuse, but that's not the case. Listen close to the lyrics and you realize that the verses are more like diary entries and letters to loved ones sent through digital audio and delivered straight into the hearts of the listener.
The first song recorded was "Advertisement", a banger that gives the listener a reason to stay tuned for more of their polished lyricism. They go on to give you the message with tracks like "Bang Out" and "Another Drink", a track that sums up the ever so confident and respectable sound of the duo. In the midst of their crazy drinking songs they get to the heart of matter with seemingly alchohol induced love poems on tracks like "Safe and Sound" and "Empty Bottles". What a roller coaster ride this Cd is, with its twists and turns and the loopty loop of heat rocks like "Big Dicks and Dollar Bills", "Losers Anthem", and the cinematic "Broken Dreams" featuring Slaine, pieces of work that are cocky to say the least. Celebrate life and love, and have a drink with Born Losers, just do it responsibly (wink).
