Originating from Perth, Ontario, when most kids were out dirt biking and riding ATVs, Cole at age eleven chose to sell his ATV in exchange for his first guitar and amp—he had found his passion in music.Cole diligently worked on honing his guitar playing skills, playing mainly Silverchair and Nirvana tunes. By grade ten his interest in songwriting and the desire to perform with a band was sparked, hence his first three piece band was formed with some friends. This group performed on the high school talent stage throughout the year, playing mainly Nirvana cover tunes. In grade eleven another band, “Grind STâ€, was formed using an abundance of Cole’s lyrics and playing mainly original songs. In the spring of 2004, guitar in hand, Cole moved west to Alberta, not knowing that a change in musical genre would occur. Cole entered the Cowboys Rising Star Competition, winning that night’s performance by singing “Dust On The Bottleâ€. Country music had him captivated. In 2005, Cole entered Lammlees Rising Star and Cowboys Rising Star competitions, where he made it to the finals for both events. Later in 2005, Cole won the Ponoka Talent Showcase, giving him the opportunity to entertain on main stage at the Ponoka Rodeo. He has since had the honor of performing at the Ponoka Rodeo for the past four years. In 2007, Cole found himself competing at Global Rising Star where he shared the stage with Patricia Conroy, Shane Yellowbird and Brad Johner. Then on to Olds Rising Star Competition, hosted by 96.5 CKFM, giving him the opportunity he had been waiting for, to record a single. Cole took this one step further, and recorded an additional four self penned songs for his demo CD titled “Summer Nightsâ€.Influenced by various genres and artists, ranging from Eric Church, Keith Urban, and Garth Brooks to Silverchair, Staind, Nirvana and Metallica, Cole attributes his rock/country style to his diverse taste in music. Cole is continually honing his writing skills to become an accomplished songwriter, as well as gearing up to tour and share his music with a new generation of country music fans.
