On May 12, 2008 I found out my mammogram had spots on both sides. After xrays and an ultra-sound, and an MRI AND 2 biopsies, Dr Duven found a suspicious spot on the right side and ductal carcinoma on the left.. Cancer. It was so small it couldnt be felt yet, but it looked like a trail of ants in a line. Luckily, it was at stage 0 and non-invasive. I had my surgery to take a spot out on June 12. It left me black and blue but living and mostly cancer-free. All that is left (so far) is radiation, no chemo. My insurance is fighting the mammo-site radiation, as opposed to whole breast that would take away a second shot at radiation. It would mean a mastectomy if the cancer came back.
Renfairepirate's mom has breast cancer also and corresponded with me about making some buttons to sell for Breast Cancer Research. Thus Pirates Think Pink was born.
