boy outside a.k.a. Aidan Cooney is one of London's most captivating new singer/songwriters. With a sound steeped in the traditions of alt-country blues and a penchant for pop's infectious hook, his songs linger in the soul, echo the spirit of the 'south', and distil a heady mix of both the modern and the nostalgic.
Aidan built a strong reputation for lyricism as front-man for country-influenced rock'n'roll band Lincoln Brown. His penchant for solo song writing emerged whilst performing in Moscow with Lincoln Brown and has developed into a sophisticated, stripped back acoustic sound.
boy outside’s music is permeated with an introspective and autonomous edge influenced by his youth in the remote, broad flatlands of the Lincolnshire countryside. Today, his cutting lyrics draw the listener into a world of depth, yearning and warmth, leaving them with the vivid imagery that reminiscing brings.

This is exactly what happened during Boy Outside’s 30-minute set tonight. But what makes this singer/songwriter worthy of such notoriety? Well, his songs for one. They’re steeped long in the traditions of alt-country/blues rock ballads, and we’re talking everyone from Hooker, to Jagger to Adams (Ryan that is). His lyrics cover a wide-scope of emotions, such as the pain and yearnings for love, the comfort yet vulnerability that reminiscing brings, and the excitement and longing for new experiences. shortened set with Last Valentine, much more plaintive vocals, an air of
desperation in places, a melodic track with some bounce in it, classic
Americana, and shows boy outside to be a diamond in this lineupâ€â€¦... See blog for full review - "It's a Change of Scene.....“Frontman of Monto Stalwarts Lincoln Brown, Aidan Cooney is now Boy Outside a fabulous solo venture showcasing the natural talent of this man.†- Monto Water Rats Theatre
