You might place Rubi and Jude somewhere in between the ‘nerdish-folk’ sound and a 1973 Super-8 home movie. They bow and finger-pick guitars, tinkle glockenspiels and warble harmonised duets together with double bassist, Jess Dunn. Other musicians on occasion include Damian Robison on drums, Flic Whelan on flute and Jess Chalker on piano.Rubi and Jude’s beginnings can be traced back to the underground emerging-artist community, Woojam, where they met and have supported many talented musicians in shows around Sydney over the past year. Both recent Arts graduates, the pair write and compose songs bearing intimate lyrical tales of introspection and yearning. From nocturnal odes to lilting hymns, they draw on themes from the natural world, creatures and places, both oceanic and imagined, ultimately weaving domestic narratives of love, self and the world beyond. They are currently recording material for their first release and a sneak preview can be found here
