Listen. Rob Phillips has been the frontman of Montreal's Eclipse: A Tribute to Pink Floyd since the spring of 1992. Eclipse gained popularity for their faithful renditions of Pink Floyd classics, but perhaps more importantly; a lot of heart and soul in their playing. Since then he has also been in several other bands in the role of lead guitarist, but seldom as the band's frontman/singer. The bulk of the material in these bands was written in a group format. When each of these bands eventually split-up, Rob was left back at square one. The most notable of Rob's former bands was Ecclestone. Ecclestone created a buzz in the music community; they placed 1st on makeastar.com...twice, were semi-finalists in CHOM-FM's Esprit competition in 2001 and earned opening slots for classic rock bands such as April Wine, Nazareth and Yes. Ecclestone parted ways midway through 2002 and Rob relocated to Toronto in 2003. A new city and a new start, Rob decided to take the reigns himself and start something of his own. He decided to switch gears a bit and turn to the Blues. For a short time, he developped material that was reminiscent of Freddie King, early ZZ Top and The Allman Brothers Band. It wasn't long before his heart started pulling back to the British bands that have dominated his personal soundtrack for so long. Electing to keep the bluesy edge, he would incorporate some of the moodiness and sound textures of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and especially Pink Floyd. Rob's passion and attention to detail landed him a prominent role in Classic Albums Live. A group which performs classic rock albums as an entire piece of music - much like a symphony orchestra. Their credo is Note for Note, Cut for Cut - No cheesy costumes or impersonations. They have gained a lot of recognition over the last 4 years and play regularly along the east coast of North America from Nova Scotia to Florida and have recently started playing regularly in Las Vegas. Ecclestone have recently started collaborating again for old times sake and have started recording some new material. Rob also has some new material of his own which should be posted up here soon. Keep watching this page for updates and new songs. Thanks for listening!..
