Ron Jones, Alto Saxophonist and leader of the Ron Jones Quartet lives in Louisville, Kentucky. Jones and his Quartet tour throughout the Midwest performing at different Universities, Jazz Clubs, and Jazz Festivals. Jones graduated from Florida A & M University Cum Laude, with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 1980. When Jones returned to Louisville he began teaching private Saxophone lessons, and performing with local bands. Privately Jones teaches close to 50 students per week, and averages at least 6 students yearly making the Kentucky All State Symphonic, Concert and Jazz Bands. Many of his former students have received music scholarships to attend schools like Berklee School of Music, Ball State University, Belmont University, The University of Kentucky, Purdue University, University of Louisville, Morehead State University, Eastern Kentucky University, Oral Roberts University, University of Texas, and many others. Jones has worked as a professional musician/teacher since 1980, and is very involved in the world of Jazz Education. For 10 years Jones taught at the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Camps. He has also taught at the Miami Valley Jazz Camp in Centerville, Ohio. He is also in high demand as a performer. This past January the Ron Jones Quartet was the Artist in residence at the Purdue University Jazz Festival. This Festival has had world class jazz musicians like John Faddis, Freddie Hubbard, Terell Stafford, Bobby Watson, James Williams, Gary Burton, The Mingus Big Band, Conrad Herwig, and many others. Jones has performed as a guest soloist/clinician at many of the Universities as well as some High Schools in the Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, and Indiana areas. He has given Jazz Improvisation workshops and taken his Quartet to Ohio State University, Univ. of Dayton, Ball State Univ., Purdue Univ., Austin Peay State Univ., Southern Illinois Univ.-Carbondale, Middle Tennessee State Univ., Western Kentucky Univ., Eastern Kentucky Univ., Berea College, Cincinnati Conservatory, Ferris State Univ., Indiana State Univ., Central Michigan Univ., Indiana Wesleyan Univ., McKendree College, Hope College, St. Louis Univ., Univ. of Evansville, Hillsdale College, Bradley Univ., Illinois Wesleyan Univ., and many others. In 1997 Jones recorded his first CD, “A Vision of Beautyâ€. The CD has received good reviews from Jazziz and Cadence Magazines. It has also gotten a lot of national airplay. Jones has also performed with some of the biggest names in jazz like, Dianne Reeves, Wycliffe Gordon, Slide Hampton, Bobby Shew, Nat Adderley, James Williams, Rufus Reid, Richard Davis, Jamey Aebersold, Terell Stafford, Wynton, Branford, and Delfeayo Marsalis, Christian McBride, Jimmy Raney, Donald Brown, Adam Nussbaum, Conrad Herwig, Don Braden, Todd Coolman, Chris Potter, Hal Galper, Walt Weiskopf, David Baker, Bob Hurst, Joe LaBarbra, Ed Soph, Ed Thigpen, Jeff Watts, Kenny Kirkland, Richard Groove Holmes, Mark Shim, Dan Hearle, Jimmy Raney, Cal Collins, Reuben Rodgers, David Liebman, Mark Levin, Peter Martin, Greg Hutchison, Mark Gross, Pat LaBarbra, Winard Harper, Bill Cunliffe, Jerry Coker, and many others.ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Recorded 2 albums w/ the Florida A & M University Symphonic

CD, A Vision of Beauty, in 1997. Since its release in December of 1997, it
has been reviewed in Jazziz Magazine, Cadence Magazine, The Louisville Music
News, The Grand Rapids Press, The Dayton Daily News, and others. It has also
received a large amount of both regional and national radio airplay in
Washington D.C., Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Louisville, Lexington, Dayton,
Chicago, Nashville, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, and Seattle. Also was played
on Jim Wilkey's Jazz After Hours radio show that is heard all over the
nation and Bob Parlochas Jazz Show from California. It was also in the top 5
CD's for about a year in The Jazz South Competition at The Southern Arts
