Alias Punch

About Me

What a great concept; a massive website visited by millions of people daily, dedicated to and created for musicians from all over the world. Any aspiring artist can pick up an instrument, record some obscure, obnoxious, or obstinate series of clicks and whistles, and share it with every man, woman, and geek eclectically charged to find new music. Thanks, Tom. Unfortunately, Myspace took the same path as the AM/FM and became a capitalization, a corporation, a downright downer in the ears of this generation. Every day, we receive invites and friend requests from the same "band" wearing a different goofy, little disguise. Insert some pretentious name in an attempt of meaning and relevance, as well as the most mediocre, sub-standard sound that could hardly appeal to a handful of misinformed, melodramatic preteens in the most attention-crazed time of their lives and you're left with what people now call, music. With this positive notion in mind, Dusty Mondy, Arkie Jay, and Jasper Bleu, three Orlando natives, do what they love: play music. Alias Punch might be called an indie band, a new wave band, a blues band, or a punk band, but the only label they sleep with at night lies somewhere in that moment when sleep is achieved. It's a series of undulated sound and light, tickling the left side of our brains and our most basic concepts of reality with some indescribable, abstract force. Alias Punch appears in venues around the world, in hope of finding like-minded individuals that simply want and need something different. No bullshit. ..

"...It's like a strange cross between fake nachos and slurpees..."
--Jameson Beaver
"Local experimental indie rock trio Alias Punch was born in December 2007 and has traveled to Portland, Oregon and back in the pursuit of rock-and-roll. Now that they've finally settled down, it looks like they finally found what they were looking for. Alias Punch is comprised of "thumpster/wailer" Dusty Mondy, "six-string sorcerer" Jasper Blue and "slave to rhythm" Archie Ray. Not only do they have excellent names, this trio also lays down cheeky, irreverent punk-flavored indie rock that sounds like the result of an orgy between Iggy Pop, The Doors and Joy Division, which might have actually happened at some point. With Yorgurt Smoothness, Sterling Scroeder, Intl Auxilary and The Queus."
