About Me

Sara Neidorf plays drums, guitar, (minimal) bass, and tries to sing sometimes too. She began writing music in late 2006, and decided in June 2008 to record some of it. All music is recorded with GarageBand-- maybe I'll use Logic once I get off my butt and learn how to use it. The drums are recorded with one mic, situated haphazardly on the opposite end of the room, because I can't afford real drum mics. Therefore, sound quality is less than optimal. If you can overlook that and the somewhat messy playing, perhaps you will find something you enjoy. At some point, I plan to take some of my music to a studio, so be on the lookout for some Sara Neidorf tunes that actually sound half decent! Wahoo. Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to send me messages.
Oh yes, and because I'm working my ass off at Bryn Mawr, there hasn't been much time to record or write music, but I have written a few new things recently. There will probably be a few new tracks up by late December. And in other exciting news, the new Scythe of Azrael album (on which I drum), Ad Infinitum, is now complete! Check www.myspace.com/scytheofazrael to hear a couple tracks from it, and contact me if you're interested in purchasing an album.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members:
Sara Neidorf - guitars, drums, bass, vocals

(occasionally) Liankun Zhu - violin

Influences: My biggest influence is Opeth, but I strive in no way to emulate their sound (which would be impossible anyway). Other influences include The Gathering, Grayceon, King Diamond, John Wetton, Porcupine Tree, Dimmu Borgir, November's Doom, Neurosis, Stinking Lizaveta, Sixteen Horsepower, Joanna Newsom, Burst, Edge of Sanity, Madder Mortem, Katatonia, and countless others.
Sounds Like: A little bit of metal, a little bit of prog, a little bit of classical (if you're being generous), gentle death, illusory rainbow, that first snow of winter, delirium, and catharsis. Put it in a blender, pour it out, and lick the remnants from the blade.

What am I up to?

Well, I write every once in awhile. I'm also trying to incorporate my friend, Liankun Zhu, on violin. He's now on about five of my songs, three of which are up ("Evading Finality," "Autumn," and "Con...
