As you can see.. I am a huge fan of Dir En Grey. Maybe not the biggest, but I'm pretty up there. I've been listening to Dir En Grey for about.. 5 years. Ever since I heard just one of their songs, I've been hooked. And I've been known to get some of my friends hooked too. If you ask my friends, I talk about Dir En Grey all the time. I used to be in love with Kyo. But... After watching the Macabre Tour... I sort of leaned towards Die a little bit.. Then I just got plain obsessed with Die. And yes, I talk about Die all the time to my friends. I have seen Dir En Grey live. And they fucking rawked!!! I'd so go to another concert. Even if I had to pay 200 dollars for one ticket. I dun' care.

- Vocalist of Dir En Grey. Kyo has written lyrics for over eighty songs for Dir en grey, and composed music for six of the group's songs as well as a couple of their remixes. Kyos lyrics are sometimes considered sadistic or disgusting. Kyo himself has admited to writing things that will make it hard for people to accept him. His subjects are often unpleasant for most readers. They are often filled with perverse images of violence, rape, and paraphilia. Kyo enjoys making his songs hard to understand, and apparently 'likes to take a story and remove all the bare-bones and main points of it to leave a complex piece'. I personally think that Kyo is absolutely genius in his lyric writing, and I'm sure as do many many others.

Kaoru is the oldest member and leader of Dir en grey. He also composes most of the music and also produces. He is known for writing diverse music, from his eleven-minute songs like Macabre, to upbeat songs like Jessica. Kaoru writes the vast majority of Dir En Grey's songs. He usually plays guitar solos as opposed to rhythm guitar, and is thus considered the "lead" guitarist. His guitar sound relies heavily on manipulation, using the feedback to produce a screeching sound, or make bizarre noises. His guitar solos are typically slow and very emotional, though they were faster towards the beginning of his career. He has played the guitar since high school, and has switched from back-up guitarist to lead position in more recent years.

-December20, 1974 Die's role in Dir En Grey is sometimes seen as inferior to that Kaoru, and it is true that Kaoru writes the majority of the music and has the most solos on stage. Die balances this with his ability to play the acoustic guitar, which often shows in his songwriting. Die is responsible for some of Dir En Grey's more diverse music like the more upbeat songs such as Wake, Yokan, and Audrey, the punk styles of Schwein no Isu and Children, to the mournful 304 Goushitsu, Hakushi no Sakura. He is also the writer for the more gentle acoustic songs, such as Undecided. Daisuke is my personal favorite. His personality is great on and off stage. He is more of a prankster, which I think is so kawaii!!

Toshiya is often described as the silliest member of the band, though also the most beautiful. Revered for his skills as a bassist, he's also written songs for the band such as Erode, Bottom of the Death Valley, RED...[Em], THE IIID EMPIRE, and egnirys cimredopyh +) an injection. It's obvious in many backstage clips of the band that circle the internet that Toshiya can be silly and playful, but also very devoted to his craft. Many fans that have been to his concerts say that he, like Kaoru, "transforms" when the music starts. After a long show he's been known to throw water, picks, and even his own shirt into the audience.

Shinya is known to have a shy, quiet stage personality. Despite this outward appearance, Shinya is more outgoing off-stage. His band-mates, Die and Toshiya often play good-natured practical jokes on Shinya. He plays along, and pranks them once in a while too. On many of Dir En Grey's tours, Shinya has cross-dressed. His costumes always match the rest of the band's style for that tour. Shinya also serves as a counter balance to the eccentric singer Kyo. Many people who want to prove J-rock as a malevolent genre of music use Dir en grey as an example, mainly citing Kyo's use of gory imagery, and his props such as false blood, despite what Kyo is truly like. However, due to Shinya's kind, quiet stage personality, it makes it difficult to argue that Dir en grey's members are malicious He is just so cute!!
