SRV Ride 2008, My Thoughts,Cee.
Well, It's gonna really be hard to say how I really felt. I think it was Spectacular. I just am so happy with all the efforts and all the artist. I have said all these years now14 years, It literally takes an army of people to get these shows on. Starting with President Ric Choate , Vice President Shon Beall , & Master Warrior Robin Olmos who does everything Shon cannot get done. The Venue Cowboys welcomed us all Home. All the Vendors & The Sponsors who all want to be a part of this event. The Radio Stations , Lone Star 92.5 & The Eagle Rocks 97.1.Of course all the workers and crew . I mean I know what it is to work a show and they are some of the very best. The volunteers who do all they are asked .The caterers and well Im sure there are those who do more than even I would know. It is simply amazing what this event has become. It started out as an idea with Mrs. Vaughans blessing . In small VFW venues and over the years it has taken it's toll on those who have been elected / selected to carry theweight upon their shoulders, in now 4 different SRV Committee's over the years. Now it goes without sayin that without Stevie's Fans or as he would always refer to them his Family (All Yall),not supporting this event all would be in vain. But to the contrary it's has flourished and we have learned and grown and now, this year is exactly what this event is all about. Over the years many have felt that a National Headliner who gave us a break on their cost which was so very necessary .Stevie would want no artist to play free. The Committee's have always tried to work deals with all artist and get the best deal they could. Some artist really take the event to heart more than others, but they all try and do what they can. Ric, Shon & Robin work tirelessly all year for no pay to do all they can to bring the best show they can. They are a remarkable threesome. I love them very much. I really do. I have been involved in a small way over the years and try and help when I can. I have always said that if I see anyone ever taking this event in a wrong direction, I would be the first to freak out. It has never been run by any Committee, But by those who simply care. This particular SRV Committee has outdone even them selves, this year.
It has been fun to be able to see the Ride Committee bring well-known Artist to the show. However it seemed to soak up too much of profits and all felt that they had brought the event along and that the Fans/Family would support a great show period. They, yall did just that this year. All the artist on The Pre Shows, The Ride Show itself and the After Party Show brought artist who played and knew Stevie and all are still in the mode of playing their art and loving what they have always done. The others are some that were so influenced by Stevie that they too deserve to be on this show. I will not try and name all that played. They are all still listed on the official SRV Remembrance & Ride Concert Web site. I think, each year a few yougins stand out. Cole Davis, son of Tim Davis showed off his talent on one of his Fathers hard work replica SRV # 1 guitars. Cole. Well, I named him Cole Blue Steel a few years ago. Played with such talent and ease, I was very impressed. He will be a bright star/ talent someday. Then we had The T-Man. Tallan Latz. This young guitar slinger from Wisconsin came down with his Father Carl and played at the Pre Party, The Concert & The After Party. He came with us early Sunday Morning to Stevie's graveside and spent some time with us all. I watched him and he spoke to me with such honor and pride of being a part of all this. Grown men are not quite as eloquent as The T -Man. He just turned 9 years old. Ya had to be there and See, Hear and Feel what this yougin brought with him. His passion and talent is overwhelming. He already understands Show Time and put on a Show from the Heart. He also got to ride in a sidecar in the SRV Parade with all the great Bikers who really keep this event so strong. Im a simple man and really do not have the words to express my love and admiration to Ric, Shon and Robin for their never ending desire to put on the best show anyone could ask for .I think this year especially, They hit the mark. This year's SRV Ride & Concert 2008 was exactly what this event is all about. I know Stevie is proud of what is being done in his name ever year. I also know that Stevie was with us all and he may have had a better time than we did. I humbly submit this with all my admiration and love to each and everyone who come and support this event. Ya don't have to ride a cycle to come to this event. Heck I could not fit or ride one if I could fit. But by Car, Mule or Walk. I will always be there with all to remember our Stevie Ray. It is his Day and We celebrate The Man, The Music and The Spirit that remains with us all. All my love and all my appreciation to all. Cee & Stevie.

**My life is full and rich with friends and more friends. My journey began when I was about 19 or 20 and met Stevie Ray Vaughan when he was 15. I knew then, this guy was special. More than a great player even then, he was a good guy. Someone who anyone would want to make a lifetime friendship with. We did that and it was the best thang I ever did. Stevie was just a kid and I was too. But the adventure that was ahead we both only dreamed about. I kept tabs as best I could and wrote a book about our lives: "You Can't Stop A Comet". I worked for many other artists over the years and would always return to Stevie. His dream I shared and we saw it come to life. I knew all along I was right. Today after all these years I can look back and see all my friends and so many more I continue to meet through all those who see and hear what I saw and heard back in 1969. Some say I was so lucky to have met Stevie and been a friend. I say I was and am the luckiest man I ever knew. For not only did that all happen, but it continues and that my friends I see in all of you.
