Elijah Reed Band- Singer/Songwriter

Fred is a singer/song writer, he started pursuing his love for music, as a boy, growing up in Kentucky with some of the greats such as Keith Whitley, Montgomery Gentry, Les Taylor, Bob Goff and J.P. Pennington of Exile. He was most influenced by his stepfather, Mr. David Blakey, who played the “Grand old opry” and the “Louisiana Hayride”, and who taught Fred some of the finer points of the music industry and playing the guitar. Fred decided to pursue his musical career in mid 2008 when he put up a MySpace site, and started writing new songs to add to his existing, unusually large portfolio that holds over 450 songs. Just after writing a new song called “High Hills Dangerous Curves” in February 2009, Fred invited the Grayhorse band to play the new song, at Joey Hall’s studio in Brookfield, GA., they sounded so good that they decided to record the song that night and discussed joining together as the Elijah Reed Band. These are seasoned musicians with a combined total of over 140 years experience in the music industry. Steve, Mike and Earl had been playing together for over 7 years as the “Grayhorse Band” performing around South Georgia and neighboring states. Mike Derhammer is the recipient of the Horizon award from NECMA in 1996 and has previously worked with greats Bo Diddley, Molly Hatchet at the Palace Theater, Blackfoot, the Little River Band and many others. Earl Cannady, our drummer, has 47 years experience and has played the stage with Mickey Thomas, and played in the “Timberland Jamboree” he has played many venues like Rascals, The Mellow Mushroom and Twin Lakes. Steve Davis plays bass guitar, rhythm guitar and lead guitar. He was playing with the opening band for The Atlanta Rhythm Section and has played with greats Diamond Rio, Keith Urban and Todd Williams. Keith Gerisch our newest member has played with greats David Allen Coe and Percy Sledge.
