DEADLETTER IS DONE.
After more than two years of rockin' we've all decided to go our separate ways. We've had a great time playing shows for you guys. We'd like to thank all the bands we've shared the stage with, and also all of our fans who made the whole thing worthwhile. We still have copies of our latest CD, if you would like to order one send us an email.
(Original Bio)
Deadletter is a melodic metal band based out of Kalispell, Montana. Their unique and powerful music draws from a variety of influences, from alternative metal bands like Tool and Deftones, to new American metal like Killswitch Engage and Mastodon, even to older rock bands like Black Sabbath and Van Halen.
The origins of Deadletter began in the summer of 2004 when Derek Moree and Joe LaCroix started collaborating and writing songs. They played with a few different members early on and recorded a 3 song demo with them, then played their first show on new years eve that year. The band added new guitarist Lee Oppel in the fall of 2005 and recorded a 5 song EP, then several months later the original drummer, John Gray, moved on and the band brought in Isaac Lee to complete the line-up.
Deadletter's self-titled 6 song EP, recorded in late 2006, has been described by peers and fans as "Epic melodic metalcore meets huge stoner metal riffage" and "A unique breath of fresh air in what has become a bleak world of sound alike metalcore and screamo acts." Deadletter strays away from the typical metal songwriting process, opting for tightly crafted structures, powerful melodic hooks, alternate time signatures, and unbarebly heavy breakdowns. Mixing melodic singing parts with screaming vocals, Derek Moree's powerful voice blends perfectly with Lee Oppel's searing guitar lines, while the rhythm section created by Isaac Lee and Joe LaCroix is unstoppable.
