Band Website: your on it baby....
Band Members: Jon P. Grimes (Lead Guitar & Vocals) Pete Murphy (Rhythm Guitar & Vocals) Loz Blackman (Bass & Vocals) Paul Tinnion (Drums & Percussion) John "JC" Catterall (Guitar & Vocals)
Influences: We are Million Pound Giveaway, indie troubadours, hosts of indie radio shows in the USA (via our humble 'vault' in Liverpool) and general subservient to the 'fans' type musicians. We are a 5 piece band which consists of in no particular order:JON- Lead singer and chief noodler- Jon has been around the Liverpool music scene since roughly 1932 and has been the muse of every great artist ever to come out of the city. He claims to have been John Lennons babysitter and told John Power he'd never get anywhere with the La's and he should form Cast!Loz- chief jazz bassist- Loz came from the mean streets of down south and is the son of a preacher man. He was washed up on the shores of the Mersey after his flotation device failed him during his bronze life savers award test. He awoke to the sound of music in his head and has turned this siren song into lovely bass notes.PAUL- chief skin basher and supplementary thing shaker- Paul has hit things since he was very small and he was persuaded to try hitting drums after an unfortunate meeting with the Pope in 1982. Paul hails from both Nottingham and Ireland, although he does have a mockney accent which confuses things slightly!JC- JC was a late addition to the MPG lineup but he hung around for so long we just assumed he was a part of the band. He has legendary knowledge of all things instrumenty so he is the go to guy when something (usually Pete's amp) is sick! JC was voted 'Most likely to try and sneak a cheese sandwich riff in a song' at the MPG awards of 2008!PETE- secondary Vocals, part time noodler and other guitar bits- Pete believes that he is the best singer in the world. However Pete also believes that hamsters hail from Saturn so make of that what you will. Pete's dad thinks that one of his songs is rubbish but that MPG are still better than the Arctic Monkeys! We'll let you decide if Pete's dad is right!
Sounds Like: NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAID OR WROTE ABOUT US:"Currently my favourite band in Liverpool" - Jem @ the Hanover."I wish i was in ur band...u r boss!proper proper proper good" - (Hoonose)"sounds good guys....keep it up and best of luck" Aaron Comess (Spin Doctors drummer)"nice happy hippy sounds!" - Zee Peach"I like your music .dont tell your mother is a great tune." - James (R.M Press)"Hey form New York! Heard you on ODU , you guys rock." - Great Churn"Four lads with an abundance of talent, a love of 60s music and their won radio show. When you put that lot together you get a Million Pound Giveaway. Their new five-track EP brims over with energy and bristles with wry lyrics and sharp, spiky Brit-pop guitars." -FUSE MagazineI was listening to you the other day,I just love the stuff you do. I have been sending a sample of your music to friends of mine in an attatchment, when I have been e-mailing them. The feedback I have had back has been very good,I just hope the buggers have done what I asked them to do and signed up as fans of yours, you deserve it. - Alex (Red Thursday)
