We as a society put into power these people and now we need to take responsibility for that. The usual response to this is "We can't be blamed for the way the rest of the world is or I can't be blamed for putting this one or that one in ppower as I didn't do it"Well it is not a question of blame, it is a question of choice. If we are no longer responsible for the choices humankind has been making, and keeps making , who is?Until we are willing to take responsibility for all of this world, we won't change a thing. We can't keep saying they did it, and they are doing it and if only they would get it right! " we have met the enemy and they is us."For thousands of years we've been making the same mistakes, for thousands of years. Humankind has not evolved in its most basic instincts much beyond the caveman era. Yet every attempt to change is met with scorn, Every challenge to look at our values, and maybe even restructure them, is greeted with fear , and then anger. We are a race of people which say that what we are trying to do is build a better world. Schools are the places for such instruction. Schools are detached from a parents prejudices. Schools are seperated from parents' preconceived notions. We've seen what has resulted on our planet from the passing down of values from parent to child. Our planet is a mess.We don't understand the most basic concepts of civilized socities.
We don't know how to solve conflict without violence.
We don't know how to live without fear.
we don't know how to act without self interest.
We don't know how to love without condition. These are basic-basic- undestabndings, and we have not even begun to approach a full comprehension of them much less implement them...after thousands and thousands of years. The way out...
the education of the young in this next generation and the next! But we must stop immersing them in the ways of the past. Those ways have not worked. They have not taken us where we say we want to go. Yet if we are not careful, we are going to get exactly where we are headed!
It is time to stop! Turn around! Sit down together and collect our thoughts. Create the grandest version of the greatest vision we have ever had about ourselves as a human race. Then take these values and concepts which undergrid such a vision and teach them in our schools.

Focusing our children's attention as much on understanding the core concepts and the theoretical structures around which their value system may be constructed as we now do on dates and facts and statisitcs. In our society Little johnnie can read before getting out of pre-school, but still hasn't learned how to stop biting his brother, sister, or friends. Susie has learned andperfected her multiplication tables, using flash cards and memory, but has not learned that there is nothing shameful aor embarrising about her body.Schools at the moment only exist to provide answers. Instaed their primary function should be to ask questions. What does it mean to be honest, or responsible, or fair? What are the implications? For that matter what does it mean that 2+2=4? what are the implications.I know you are thinking this wuld lead to chaos. Well aren't we all living in a chaotic nature alreadyThink about this for a long while. The above was excerpted from Conversation with God book 2 by Neale Donald Walsch.
