Anti-DrugWar Coalition.THE PROBLEM: Our nation as well as the entire world has been fighting drugs, drug users, and dealers since the early 1990's if not earlier. Many drugs that are illegal and scheduled are not researchable because of the difficulty in acquireing a license to examine them. There are a massive number of drug users and addicts in the world. The amount of money that is used to fight drug trafficking and to create the campaigns against drugs is staggering, heading towards hundreds of billions of dollars. The education network for anti-drug movements is ineffective in many cases and could use a lot of re-evaluation. Drug users will always exist. No matter how rational and well educated a person is, there are certain individuals who will choose to experiment with drugs. Any laws, raids, and acts of law enforcement that reduce the availability of drugs to the masses, will only lead to one thing, the increase of drug prices which will lead to more profit for druglords which will lead to more social degradation such as the black market slave trade, purchase of illegal firearms, terrorism. This is exemplified by the rebel forces FARC in Columbia.THE SOLUTION: Make drugs legal, and regulate them. Set an age limit, set restrictions on activities just like with alcohol. Create a law that states people may only use drugs in their own homes. There are massive amounts of legislation that would benefit this. Tax the drugs and make a profit from it that can be placed into schools. Use the money that would be spent on law enforcement and use it for rehab or for public works. Lower taxes alltogether instead of putting money back into our society. Keep in mind that this would not necessarily lead to the degradation of society. The people who use drugs now are usually those who can get away with it easily. Chances are that a person who has a professional degree would not begin using drugs because they became legal. He would want to remain a success. The same way that people in poverty can climb up the ladder if they choose to. The money could be in fact placed back into the education system to help poor families to educate their children better and thus help bridge the gap between poverty and the upper classes.Keep one thing in mind if you don't believe me. During the prohibition in the United States, in the early part of the 1900's, people still found ways to drink and it became all the more profitable for those who supplied the liquor. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
