Welcome to my page. Here is a little bit about me in a nutshell. ^_^
My name is Christina Burns, in the gaming world I'm known as Hailglitter or Kamikaze Moth. I'm twenty nine years old, I live in Maine. Let me start from the beginning.
I have one brother called Justin, he is age thirty seven and is married. Justin is a manager for the insurance dept at Halifax bank. He has two children, Holly and Kaella. I also have a sister called Nyasha, she is age twenty and is engaged to be married. Nyasha works at W.H.Smiths, she is also studying Law, English, Math and Psychology at university, she wants to be a Criminal Defense Lawyer. My Mum is called Kirsti, she is a Community Mental Health Nurse for juveniles. My mum was born in Finland. My dad is called John, he is a Sous Chef currently looking for work. My dad was born in England, he is also French. My best friend is called Piritta, she works for a marketing company in Helsinki, Finland. We have been friends since we were two months old. My other best friend is called Clare, she is a hair stylist in Richmond, London. We have been friends since we were five years old.
I lived in London with my dad for twenty four years. I finished high school in Hounslow and went to college in Twickenham. I studied Catering for four years. I became a chef and a silver service waitress for several years. Whilst in college I met my boyfriend. Often we went to festivals, gigs and clubbing.
We moved to Middlesbrough for three years for university. Whilst in Middlesbrough I decided to try the music industry, I studied music/video technology. We made some good friends in Middlesbrough, weekly we would all go to pubs on rock nights and at the Uni night club. One guy who I stayed friends with called Marc got me into a PC game called Jedi Knight II, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have Mike or Maija.
I started playing Jedi Knight II October 2002, I got invited to join a clan called 'The Bloodhunters' by -=BH=-ControlledChaos 4th April 2003.
In July 2003 I broke up with my boyfriend of seven years and left Middlesbrough. I went back to London and got myself a job at a record store called HMV, I also started martial arts (Wing Chun, Loa Gar, Kick Boxing, Kali and Jujitsu.) Discovering martial arts made me look at my life differently.
In the last three years allot of new things has happened to my life. I met Mike a.k.a Insahn* on JK2 December 2003, he lives in the States. We had great times on Jedi Knight II, dueling, team free for alls with other clans and gaming friends, chats, ceremony's. We were in 'The Blue Stars', it is a community where we socialize on forums and in the game. We are individually voted in the community by the members. The Blue Stars was founded by Fourgates* Ikanii* and Orion*. I joined and had my ceremony 10th June 2004, map, CTF Yavin on {ThC} Server, I was nominated by Faith*.
The Blue Star Mission & History ~ By Fourgates*
We all love to play Jedi Knight 2. When I first started playing, I was amazed the players who were so good. It didn't take long to discover the players who were courteous enough to show me a thing or two. I remembered those players and would look for them again.
Ikanii and I shared the same sentiments. We found it satisfying to duel cool players proficient with a saber. We appreciated their skills and, especially, their exemplary character. From a desire to recognize those of such character and to create a sense of community, the Blue Star was born.
As we discussed months ago, a Blue Star was to be worn by individuals demonstrating honor, respect, and skill. Subsequently, we grew to expect loyalty as well. Among these qualities, honor and respect are mentioned before skill. These are naturally valued greater than skill. It is difficult to find people abundant in all these characteristics, thus I am ecstatic when I come across a person worthy of a Blue Star. I feel honored and grateful when that person also accepts an invitation to wear one.
We began with a trio of Ikanii, Orion, and myself. At present time (1/9/04), 64 players represent the ideals we covet. There are those who have not met, while others become fast friends. As we continue on, I encourage all to take the time to get to know each other and others who might be worthy of the Star. We would like to get to know them and make them apart of our family. We're not a clan. We're not a clique. I like to think of us as a fellowship or brotherhood (or sisterhood for some) who share the same vision.
Mike and I were both unemployed at the time. We chatted all night, everyday through Jedi Knight II, instant messenger, web cam and microphone. I changed my body clock to USA time, I would go to bed at 8 am, get up at 6 pm and have dinner at 4 am. In January 2004 I flew over to the States to stay with Mike for a month. After being back in England and getting to know each other more, I knew we were meant to be together. I went back to the States in March 2004.
Later that year, I had a dream, we were at the airport, I was going back to England and I felt very sad and couldn't leave Mike. I woke up and rung him..he was working nights at the gas station at the time, I said I didn't want to leave him and asked him to marry me. Friday 13th August 2004 we got married, it was a registry wedding at Springfield, MO local courthouse, our witness was a friend of Mike's, called Matt.
17th August Mike went off to boot camp in Chicago, Illinois. He signed up as a reserve for the Navy a year before we met, I stayed with his friend Glen in Springfield, Missouri. He was supposed to be there for 6 weeks before going onto A School but got put on a waiting list for two months because the Base got hit by hurricane Katrina. He was only allowed one call a month and to send letters once a week, that was really tough on us, those were the longest months I think I've ever had. What was worse, my visa expired, immigration was threatening to send me back to England. The only way I could let Mike know was to send a message through the Red Cross. We got ourselves an attorney who sorted everything out. Whilst on the waiting list, Mike was allowed liberty weekends, so I went down to visit him a couple of times from Creighton, Missouri. After boot camp, Mike went to A school in Pensacola, Florida for four long months, I stayed with his parents. Mike graduated, It was so awesome to see him at his graduation, I have never been so happy to see anyone in my life.
In January 2005 we drove down to Virginia Beach, VA, it took nineteen hours to get to VA, that was a fun trip, I got to see quite a few States...Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia. I always promised myself I'd go across the States one day.
Mike had a job lined up on base to be a Parachute Rigger, I was three months pregnant at the time. On 24th July 2005 at 7:18 am, Maija Liisa was born. Maija Liisa was my grandmother from Finland.
I quit smoking of seventeen years, can you believe it? I tell you, for all those smokers out there, the secret to quitting is having a baby, simple, you don't realize how incredible life is until you are holding your very own creation in your arms. It really is the best job in the world, being a mum.
Mike got orders for Maine by the Navy so we are now stationed in Freeport,Maine, I think we are going to leave the Navy and move near family. Next stop Kansas city baby!
My future goal is to make cakes. I am currently studying Sugar Art, I make novelty cakes, I hope to open my own specialty cake shop. I work at a British imported goods store in Freeport called Bridgeham and Cook. We sell everything British, Scottish Welsh and Irish, from Haggis to Perfume. I really enjoy work and the people I work with are so much fun.
