JahCuban: the name alone says it all...They Gangsta. JahCuban Music Group is made up of 5 hardcore deadly assassins: Scarhead, Ray Cuban, Jah Felix, Louie Rockaz, & Mr. Green. The pieces started coming together in 1999 as a crew of young hoodlums who were already deep into the hip-hop underground community but were eager to break out of that shell and get more involved and branch out into different types of music & the dancehall culture that they began to adore. This was just the beginning...
At first all they knew and played was hip-hop, dancehall, reggae, and culture music ; however, years later this changed once they started developing their creative genius and explored their musical grounds. After being attracted to the world of Roots and Dub by the likes of King Tubby's, Junjo Lawes, and Bobby Digital, these students of the game got lost in the lab and started experimenting further. That is when they decided to get serious about the game and start a musical legacy.
The JahCuban soldiers are mainly influenced by sound greats such as Killamanjaro, Stero Mars, Downbeat, King Addies, Bass Odyssey, and Mighty Crown "in 99". Not only limited to reggae, they also have been inspired by the original soul music of the 60's and 70's (Al Green, James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Syl Johnson, Etc.) and grimey sounds from the depths of the 36 chambers - Shaolin (Rza productions).
All in all, JahCuban is not your average Joe. They aren't just a reggae sound, they aren't just hip-hop dj's, they aren't just artists, nor engineers/producers. JahCuban is a musical entity and is a force not to be fu*ked with.
