GENTLEMAN JAKE ET LE PROFESSEUR INLASSABLE

About Me

Born in New York City when the Beat Generation was at its height, Gentleman Jake has been exposed since birth to a bohemian life interspersed with rat pack elegance, encountering throughout his four decades as a writer/performer many of the heroes and anti-heroes who’ve left their everlasting impressions and inspiration.
Jake joined his first rock band Gruppo Rosso While studying art in Florence, Italy. After arriving in New York, just in time to be swept up in the new wave scene, he co-formed The Hitites, who frequented venues such as CBGBs, Studio 54 and the Mud Club.
Afterwards he formed bands such as Jake Satelite, and Super Skull, performing at the popular Area club. He was produced by Tommy Kaye and also recorded with members of Funkadelic, Public Image, Los Crusados and The Mothers of Invention for Celluloid records in Los Angeles.
Jake came to France in 1991 and collaborated with several electronic producers in the heyday of Acid-house. He has been working with Pianist/guitarist David Ranger since 2003.
“Gentleman Jake is a shock crooner, between cultures, passions and emotions sparking a strange urban flame which embraces the blood from the four corners of the planet. He is the spiritual son of Iggy pop.” Lucien-Samir Oulabib 1991Les Inrockuptibles
Le Professeur Inlassable is somewhere between Zen philosopher and freak show barker. He has created his own world, harmonising the adverse, amassing sounds and the rhythm of words in his own way. There was an immediate connection between these two masters of improvised ecstatic poetic transes and this album almost made itself.
