Selk and The Bone Singers are a West Australian band who play dreamy, highly original and dynamic alt-country music. The band was formed in mid 2009 by front-woman Selk Hastings, a singer-songwriter reputed for her captivating solo performances.
After just a short time of playing gigs, Selk and The Bone Singers have already opened for international artists such as Cat Power and played with some of the best WA bands including The Painkillers, Fall Electric, The Moonlight Wranglers and The Floors.
Selk Hastings has opened for James Cruikshank from The Cruel Sea, Texan belle Jolie Holland, opened for and toured WA with NSW’s alt-folk prince Jez Mead, opened for Melbourne’s The Holy Sea frontman Henry Skerrit, and opened for Abbe May's EP launch. She is also known as the female voice on The Kill Devil Hills nationally acclaimed albums.
Joining Selk to form Selk and The Bone Singers are the starry sounding guitars of Corey Osboine (The Moonlight Wranglers), Shane Osboine (The Moonlight Wranglers), bassist Sarah Norton (The Government) and drummer Rachel Wyder (The Whitlam Years).
In 2010, Selk and The Bone Singers will be playing many shows around Perth, recording a debut album mid year, and touring the country.
